Proud owner of a 2000 DTS with 66,000 miles, and new to Cadillac Forum.
Just reviewed Full Throttle Acceleration technical article and admit that I'm guilty of babying my DTS. Need advice on how long to hold in 2nd gear at 6,000+rpm before backing off. And how many times to do this to make up for not doing so in the past. Thanks in advance for help. Great web site!

Hold it till you reach just under redliune then let off, allowing the engine to brake the car backtdown to about 45mph. Do this until you see no more black clouds of carbon coming out the back.

:welcome: It's not how long you hold it at 6000 rpm. It's getting there at WOT, then letting it back down as Danbuc said.

If you start at 55mph, you should be able to get there by 75 mph and not risk getting popped by smokey.
