Worst thing to happen to your CTS?

My grandmother was in an accident at the end of January. Here are some pics of the damage. I'll let you all guess at what happened for a few hours...

Thanks to Canada's Mercedes-Benz Forum, MBFanatics.org, for hosting the images.

Damage: $12, 000 Canadian Dollars
Time to repair: 28 Days
Her insurance loaner was a CTS with 24, 000 km on it.

Also, what materials are used on the CTS? The new hood they put on is plastic and the front quarter panels are thin aluminum. We went to a dealership to get OEM parts, and I know we didn't.

:hmm: Did she hit a pack of deer? I have no idea what would do some weird damage like that...
She hit a person, obviously. Or a deer.
Okay, I'll explain.

A garbage truck (roll-off dumpster truck) backed into her.

ahhhh, i see... so the forks of the left hit the upper/windshield and the tires hit the front of the car...

was she in it? I woulda shit myself, i had a huge front loader (bull dozer) nearly run me over once, the ones with the 6 foot high wheels.... woooooooohaaaaaa it was close...
What a let-down.

All that build-up and you give us that? Come on.

Yea, she was in it. It was at a red light. Been going for massage/heat/laser therapy since 3 days after the accident. Currently the insurance has paid ~$6, 000 for home care, massage, etc. with another $3, 000 invoiced tomorrow. That is just the reimbursement of expenses, excluding the ~$10, 000 billed directly. It looks like a long-term disability claim might be paid.
Sorry to hear about your grandmother and I hope she get well soon…
It's very scary accident when you see something bigger than you coming toward you…

From the look of it I think a body part replacement is the best cure to get it up and going I don’t think the engine compartment is damaged ….

glad to know grandma's safe -- hope everything turns out well for her, something like that can def be tramatic... the lift bars coulda went right through windshield and speared her...
a couple lessons here
1.) keep safe distance between yourself and others when motor vehicles are involved
2.) Anything can happen at any moment to anyone -- make sure your loved ones know that u love them

This is just how my car looks, except that the right headlight was shattered in pieces and my front bumper is still visible. I also dont have the guts of the car sticking out either. But in two weeks she'll be back and better than ever!
