Have seen some pic with wood on the steering wheel, mine is all leather

My 00 STS has the wood on the wheel and all of the ones that I've seen had it. I imagine it could have been an option to have an all leather wheel, I just don't recall ever seeing one.

My '98 STS has the all-leather wheel also...

There's so much wood in the car otherwise, I don't worry about it.

Anyway, the leather is more comfortable, IMO, if you drive with a hand at 12:00

Hello Jimi. I also have a 99 STS Moonstone. I replaced my leather wheel with a wood and leather one. I bought it from gmpartsdirect.com. They had a very good price. Just get the GM part # from a dealer and then go online with them and order it up.

The wood/leather steering wheel as well as the wood shifter knob were options on the STS beginning in 1998. Most of them have the wood but many do not.
