Yesterday I drove my C5 to work and realized just how nice it was to have a tall 6th gear. Cruising down the highway at 70 MPH is a mere 1500 RPM. In the -V, it's somewhere around 2300. While I can't blame the short gearing for my appalling fuel economy in the -V (12.7 MPG), I can't help but think that it would improve the situation.... The car has more than enough power to handle a more leisurely RPM during freeway cruising, don't you think?

Anybody else wishing they would have made 6th gear a little taller?

I'm about there as well, 2100-2200 in my automatic.

I WISH I was getting 27 mpg at that speed, though.

Just got back from a round trip - Pittsburgh to Hilton Head and back 2010 CTS-V Auto... I averaged 60 miles per hour each way with an average of 20.4 miles per gallon...Not bad but agree that a taller 6th gear would be the icing on the cake..

Last year I drove my 2007 corvette on the same loop and averaged about the same 60 + miles per hour...but the average miles per gallon was over 29..

The difference was the 6th gear...

Used a lot of auto speed control.. it makes a difference on both cars.

By the way I did not purchased either car for their mileage. The 2007 Vet has been replaced with a 2009 with shorter gearing

Just my two cents
