If you have any Family Radios, we can talk on them, but likely the frequencies will be very busy. If you are into ham radio like me, I will have my ham rig in the car by then. Shooting for 20M and 2M, maybe 440 if I can figure out how to mount them all without damaging the Cad. I have a GRMS radio too, these are higher power than FRS radios, require a license ($85 from FCC for 10 years) and can be had at Walmart or online for around $60. Midland has some 5watt ones that are highest power of them all. Great for this sorta thing. If you want to spend the $$. My ham radio callsign is N0DIH.... But you all knew that, right?
The Byron dragway is down around 55 miles south of Delavan. Take I43 west to I90, take I90 south (east) to the I20 bypass/I39 turn off. Take Bypass US20 to Main St Exit, go south, follow signs to Route 2. Look for nuclear power plant plumes, the dragway is about a mile from it, just off of route 2 a little ways. Easy find, just follow the steam...
The Union Grove dragway is more east, but the talk is Byron is a grippier track. Big names have and still do come to both.
IF we want to get some time there.... Might be too much for a weekend with the swapmeet.
Parking is around $3-$5, and it is like $5 to get in the gate. Bring walking shoes, this place is big and takes forever to get around. It just keeps going and going...
Guys from out of town, will you be driving in day of or day before?
