So I've been on here reading threads about the audio/video stuff, but still have a question. With the PAC-GM32 and the GMOS-6 does it matter which one you use when replacing the head unit. I know someone mentioned that on the GMOS some of the wires are shorted together. But on the PAC it comes with the chime box externally to keep bells and sounds and the wires aren't shorted. Does this matter for the Non-Bose, Non-Onstar car? I also read that the radio randomly cuts off using the GMOS on Bose systems can this be confirmed for the Base model as well?

My radio does not randomly cut off with the GMOS installed (installed for a year now), I have the Bose system. I couldn't tell you if it would be an issue in the non-Bose equipped model though.

Both PAC and GMOS short E6 and F6 (serial data lines).
Neither GMOS or PAC randomly cut off on me.
The PAC implentation of RAP turns the HU off immediatly when ignition is off while the GMOS could not figure out what to do when ignition off and door opened. It cycled the HU on and off 3 times then off. Neither chime unit worked correctly.
Both worked fine with OnStar.
Keep in mind this is on an '02 ETC w/Bose and OnStar.
A Deville base with no Bose or OnStar = No clue.

Not sure. What generates the chime in your car?
Bose HU's generate the chime (later model bose)so when you replace the HU something else needs to pick up the signal to chime, generate it and then have a speaker to make the sound.
There is chime hi/low signal on GM-32 I plan on testing to see what can be accomplished.
Stay tuned...

I just looked up your car and you have the same options as mine.
I will be testing out the RAP and chimes in the GMOS-06 to see if I can tweak it to work.
The AWSC by Axxess picks up serial data very well, so there is hope.

Yes, Double din.
I removed the console and did some cutting to make room for the monster RCA's. I just rotated the black bracket up.
The quick resolution was get the gmos-06 and AWSC. Pull all wires except yellow, black and orange on input. Tie yellow together to RAP on gm-32,
Short e6 and f6 and tap orange to that.
Ground everything to RIM ground on gm-32.
Red output from GMOs to ignition on hu and awsc output to remote on hu. Antenna and illumination to gm-32.
I'll do a write up when I get time.

Ok cool. I'm looking at getting the Sony XAV-701HD, but crutchfield outfut says it won't fit? Its says there's only 6.7 inches inches of clearance behind dash opening.

So I just checked on sonic electronix and it says it will fit. So do you know if there's a Ewart to check for sure before purchasing and opening up the dash?
