I have a 1973 caddy hearse that has a problem with the wipers. The only time they work, is when the washer pump is activated. The wiper/washer switch is mounted on the drivers door. Is this a factory switch/switch location? When I ordered a new wiper motor, they asked if mine was a phase 1 or 2? Does anybody know off hand which of the three terminals on the wiper motor does what: power, high, and low, or is one a ground?

Usually the circuit board under the black plastic cover fails within the wiper motor. Sometimes you can remove that cover reconnect the wires, turn on the motor and spray the mechanism with WD 40 to remove the dirt, crud and debris from the plastic cam that pumps the washer mechanism. Otherwise you used to be able to buy the circuit board and un solder the old one and re solder in the replacement. With the cover off and the motor working , you can see the little arm that rides on the cam.
