while looking for tires locally i couldnt find any tires for my 96 in the correct size of 235/70/15 with a whitewall. i found a set of 235/75/15 at firestone but the guy said that they may rub. does anyone know if this the bigger tire will give me any problems?

thanks

They'll fit. They will likely rub the swaybar at full lock a bit, and your speedo will be off a couple of MPH. I have 235 75 15s on my Roadmaster wagon, and they are fine.

I'm not sure about the 96 Fleetwood. I have a set of those on my 89 Brougham, and they do rub, but only when the wheel is absolutely forced all the way. Other than that, a larger tire won't really have any bad side effects. I hear it offsets your speedometer by the tiniest little bit.

I found that size whitewalls for mine in Kelly Springfield, Navigator Golds. I got them through a local tire store. So far I like them.

If you have a Kauffman tire in your area they still have the correct tire size for your car (just bought 4 last week). Kumho also still makes the correct size but no one local to me carried Kumho so I haven't seen them.

The 235 75 15 is the std Limo tire. Yup, it will fit.... I personally don't care if the tire rubs the bar, I don't drive too awful fast at full lock..... I has never affected my 80 T/A which did it factory with even the stock 225 70 15's... And I am told 275 60 15's fit fine....

I still want 275's on my Fleetwood, but I think they don't fit in back...

I might go with 255 60 15's next time, I need tires soon anyway, I just drive too many miles and am sorta hard on them. I put on new tires last fall and already need new ones....

235-75-15's fit perfectly, they're just a touch taller. That's what has been on our Roadmaster since it was purchased, and when changing the Fleetwood's tires, we were going to use the same size just because of the look. Ended up sticking with the 70's, but it's no biggie.

Like said, they used 75's on the limos and such, and the difference is minor, just a hair taller. I'd buy them in a second.

Not exactly.. they look much thinner than the 70 series.

That is what was on my '95 Roadmaster when I bought it and they just do not look beefy like the 235/70.

Exactly, which is why I haven't yet. But whitewalls for 235 70 15's are getting harder and harder to find year after year. I like whitewalls on my color car, they look cheap without. The sidewall is just too large to stay all black.... But then again, all the brake dust they usually are...
