Wierd Electrical problems - Windshield wipers and DVD player

OK so out of the blue while driving the winsheild wipers come on and spray fluid too at the same time. It has done this intermittently since we got it. But the last few days it seems like a once a day occurence. Never when its wet or raining, so it's not the autosensing wiper action, plus it sprays cleaner. Yesterday it did it for like 5 minutes straight, kinda distracting and dangerous in my opinion. To the point tht it ran out of fluid!

Anyone else having this same problem?

Also, sometimes when the kids are watching the DVD, it will just appear on the main screen and replace the NAV with the movie, then 2 minutes later the nav comes back on. Again intermittent.

Because of the intermittent nature of these things, the dealer cannot duplicate the problem or fix it. It's very frustrating.

My wife complained of the two same things, so I investigated this myself instead of taking it in to the dealer because dealership service personnel suck the big one. Here is what I came up with:

What is happening is that someone or something is accidently tripping the heated windshield washer fluid switch located below the A/C controls right under the AUX button. The button has the windshield symbol on it with an LED indicator. Make sure that nothing in the cupholders has touched it or slightly rubbed against the button. GM put that button in a very bad place. When this button is pressed, it takes about 30-40 seconds to heat the fluid and it then sprays the fluid on the windshield and if the button is left on, it will continue to spray. Once I told my wife to watch the button, it never happened again.

The DVD movie on the main NAV screen is a normal operation when the car is in park. When this happens, just hit the NAV button and it will go to the NAV operation. If you are turning on a DVD movie, if the car is in park, the movie will play on the front main NAV screen. When this happens, just hit the NAV button and it will go to the NAV display. It's just that easy.

The problems you described are not problems, but you just have to be familiar with GM's systems.

Hope this helps!

The wiper/washer thing happened to me in BOTH of my 07's within 1-2 months of taking delivery, I pulled over, turned off the ignition and restarted the trucks, never had the problem again, was not using the wipers at the time, it was a nice sunny day when it happened to me both times.
