I have an 05 escalade that I had to bring to the auto body shop.

I got a yukon XL standard, not a denali, from HERTZ for a rental.

First of all, its averaging almost 17 miles per gallon, compared to my Escalade
averaging about 11 miles per gallon.

Secondly, it seems to accelerate with way less noise and smoother. My escalade seems like it struggles to accelerate.

Whenever I hit the gas whether coming from 0mph, or 40mph to 60mph it is just as fast as my escalade, if not faster and much smoother, you don't hear the engine struggling.

I don't know a lot about engines and cars other than owning everything from a lexus gs400 to a 2005 sts, to a deville, to a ford f150, to a yukon denali, to a 05 escalade.

Why is this standard yukon accelerating smoother and seemingly better than my escalade, and also giving me a smoother, quieter ride?

One aspect i think i have an explaination for; the smoother ride. The Yukon XL has a longer wheelbase which can lead to a smoother ride. My Envoy XL was a bit smoother than my Escalade due to this fact. The other issues i have no idea, hope this helped some.

The ride will be better on a longer wheelbase truck. As far as the motor goes, do you have a 5.3 or 6l motor in your lade? My EXT crushes Tahoes and yukons, even my wifes '05 Denali, I find the power to be quite amazing for such a big truck. It is very quite and smooth, what year do you have, has the vehicle ever been damaged/ motor replaced?

No I bought it brand new during the GM employee discount.
It is a V8 escalade.

I guess it's the wheel base, but that doesn't explain all the noise my escalade makes, and how it seems to almost struggle to accelerate.

welll obviously its a v8 escalade but, is it an awd 6.0 or rwd?.......the difference in hp is something like 50 hp i believe someone correct me if im wrong. and if its a 2wd, that could be the reason why the yukon seems faster than yours.

My neighbor has a Yukon Denali that I ride in a lot, I will tell you, and probably he would too that my Escalade rides much better, I get 12.2 around town, his wife's Yukon gets 12.4, just about the same mileage.

Our Tahoe Z-71 5.3 smokes my 99 5.7 Lade all day long. It is much quicker off the line and has more horses.

If you have the RWD that could explain it.

I just got a tahoe as a rental car today while my Lade is in for warranty service, and its like night and day. This car feels so cheap compared to my Lac. The power is like non existant, ride just isnt even close.

Do you have rubber floor mats in your escalade? If so, check em it might be under your pedal preventing it from the peddle actually going to the floor. I had that prob with mine and moved the mat a little and it was back to normal. Just a thought.

The 2WD has the 5.3 engine with 295HP and AWD has the 6.0 engine with 345HP, difference is 50HP.:D You are right.

Yea I get 13.9 to 14.2 on mine with 22". May be there is a difference with larger rims. I can't see how we vary that much.

Some areas of the country there is more of a mix of highway and city driving, I think you are seeing the people like me getting 12 miles a gallon because most of my driving is city stop and go driving, I know on the highway depending on speed I get 18-19 mpg. :)

The 99 lade only made 255hp, what year Tahoe do you have?
