So, I dont come here or post much anymore, cause on this site, and this site only, it takes forever to load. When I try to post on a thread, it takes forever, and more often than not I get error messages and have to hit post a second or even a third time. I have so much damned trouble trying to post that I've gotten really angry and don't come on here much anymore. No other websites are like that for me...I'm pretty sure that its not my computer or my connection, but something that my computer doesn't like about this site. Any ideas, or is anyone else having trouble with the speed of the forums??? Kinda frustrating, cause I love it here, but its not worth being pissed every time I try to post!

Yea...have Cable now...COMCAST IS F'ING WORTHLESS. Their techs have been here over a dozen times in the last 15 months, and every time they say "I don't know what the problem is, call us next time it goes down." and when I call them, they say, "no, it shows that its up on our system." and they leave it at that. I finally said F it, and ordered Yahoo DSL. Damn near as fast, $35 a month cheaper, and no problems! I even went so far as to have an electrician friend of mine run his tester on the cable drop from the street to the house, he found exactly where the bad connection was, and when I pointed it out to the tech, they said "no, that's not the problem, I don't know what it is" The bastards...I live in a pretty old house and the cable wiring is outdated...that's the problem, but they refuse to fix it, so they lost a customer. Oh well, I'll be happier and saving money. But alas, that's not the problem with this site, cause my cable, when its working, works fine on the all the other sites that I frequent.

Hey Spyder, if it's just this site I would suspect something like a hard refresh is needed (ctrl - F5) to clear old cookies and such, or there may be a setting in the browser you are using. Just a couple of stabbs in the dark. I use Mozilla Firefox for a browser, have DSL and not problems.

Also keep in mind, due to the storms around Fla, the site has been up and down.

I think so, it clears the cache and cookies.

Which browser are you using?

You are on Comcast no wonder you have problems, their tech support office is in Cobourg, they pay their people like $10 / hr and are trained for about 3 weeks before answering the phones
they really only know what is in their manual
but i do find this to be the slowest site around

Yeah, the Mac Mini is only $500. It's not a bad computer, comprable to what you'd pay for a Windows computer (of course, Dell doesn't count since they sell tons of wholesale computers on the cheap cause they use cheap parts and have their customer service in India...) But remember, Macs use a UNIX-based operating system, so they are less prone to get viruses and pretty much don't crash...Funny thing about that actually, apparantly Microsoft has changed the blue screen of death for Windows Vista - it is now the RED screen of death:thumbsup: but Mac's don't even have screens of death, so...

Comcast user here, I really can't complain - I get excellent speed up and down 98% of the time, hovering between 5 and 6 mb/s.
However, I do keep the 'puter up to date re: drivers, Java VM and such.
Opera 8.5, XP Home, AMD Athlon 64, 1GB PC3200 RAM
Another thing to remember if just certain sites are slow is that the routing servers out there might be clogged or have heavy traffic to negotiate. Many folks don't realize how many 'hops' a packet might have to make from the origination server to your browser, and any one of them can be a bottleneck. It's not ALWAYS right to blame your ISP.
Do a TRACE ROUTE to CadillacForums.and see how many hops you take. It's not uncommon for a packet to go through 20+ servers before you see it. Here's an example :
C:\>tracert www.cadillacforums.com
Tracing route to cadillacforums.com [65.38.186.68]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

As you can see, I took 7 or 8 hops before I was even out of the state, and then I went from New York to Denver....
