Why do the tow ratings differ on the website and manual??

On Cadillac's website, the RWD model is rated at 8000lbs towing, and the AWD model at 7700, but in the manual, it states that the RWD is 7400lbs and the AWD 8100lbs - HUH????

I got the RWD model because it had greater tow capacity, but the manual states it it not only less, but less even than what the low end states on the website! :thepan:

All the things I have seen rate the RWD to have more towing weight, it's not much different, but all RWD will tow more weight that an AWD. :)
That's what I see everywhere too, on all vehicles (Ford, Nissan, Chevy, GMC) so why would this one say something else? Now it's got me a bit concerned. The AWD is definitely heavier and that ALWAYS reduces the towing capacity, yet...
Bump...

Anyone know this? This still confuses me...
Don't know the answer, but I have the same question. My GMC Yukon Denali is AWD, and I have started looking at the Escalade to replace it. My front differential started whining at about 60,000 miles. The heaviest weight I tow regularly is about 3500 lbs.

BTW Teutonictrio, PM me when you get a chance.

Thanks,

You have to change the gear oils in the front and rear diff more than the manual tells you to, that will make your diffs last longer, I never let them go more than 25k miles, and I use good synthetic oils, this will help make them last longer.
El Duderino, PM sent.

Every other truck/suv out there has MORE towing capacity for the RWD than the AWD - every single one. The website states 8000lbs for RWD but the manual states 7400lbs for the RWD, which is not only less than AWD, but really freaking low.

Apparently I can't send or reply to PM's until I have 20 posts. I was just wondering where you guys ended up after the drama at that other forum. You can PM me, I can read them.
