Am I asking too much for my Escalade? I figured $40,000 was a good price but my highest bid on Ebay last time was $38,850. I don't want to GIVE the truck away. :hmm: Or maybe it is the ad itself? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4594305158 Ebay Item #: 4594305158

Can someone give me some tips? Maybe another place to try and sell it?

Thanks,
Kristin

Probably right now 38k is about all you will get, I only say that because my truck which is an 03' with 26k miles is only worth 30k to 35k, and with discounts on the new Escalade's of 10k to 14k, it's not going to get any better. :(

Good luck. You've got some things working against you. 1) Ebays is a whore's market. People only look to steal vehicles. Try listing locally. 2) People who shop for Escalades REALLY want Nav - its a major ding - and to a lesser extent - a sunroof. 3) New Escalade pricing. I paid less than $4k different for a brand new 05 with nav a couple weeks ago. 4) The gas scare is still killing SUV sales.

I wish you the very best of luck.

I'm sure your an honest person but I think your rating is kind of low for a $40000 vehicle... People are probably scared. I would suggest selling it locally too. Autotrader and similar types of advertisement.

Hi Kristin,

I'm brand new to this forum, but not brand new to ebay. I looked at your ad. The main thing that comes to mind is why is there no warranty? Escalade is not even 2 years old and has only 11,000 miles? Shouldn't there be a balance of the factory warranty remaining?

If you look at all the SUVs (large ones) on ebay, they are all going for a lot less than they did a few months ago when gas was cheaper. I'm not sure if that's the reason, but it's just my guess. Also, you get a higher price if you sell your vehicle in the spring, after tax time. Now isn't the right time to sell, right before Christmas and with the cold and snowy weather coming. Who would want to chance getting rust on that baby? Or driving on slick roads, possibly getting hit by someone not proficient at driving in snow (was that politically correct way to put it?). Now is definitely the right time to buy - I could buy a low-mile 2004 DeVille for under $20K.

Otherwise, I like your auction page and you make everything clear. Nice ride, by the way. I hope my opinion helps, but it is really only my opinion.

Good luck,
Deb

I can't agree more with what's said above. I would also engourage you to try and sell the vehicle through Autotrader.com or another similar site. People are always hunting a bargain on Ebay, and it seems to me that's not the place to list a luxury SUV. Again JMHO.

+1 on the gas prices scare hurting value of the gas guzzlers.

+1 on the 80% Ebay rating. I like buying off of Ebay, but I would NEVER do buisness with a seller or buyer with an 80% rating.

I also think you're Ebay add looks good....lots of detailed pics. You should highlight the fact that the vehicle has the remainder of the factory warranty somewhere in the add (4 yr 50k mile warranty won't hurt resale).

Just for your reference the wholesale value of your Lade in excellent condition is currently $35,700. A fair person-to-person sale price is $37,500. Retail value of the vehicle is $40,000 even......and you'll never sell your Lade for retail value with the discounts available on the brand new Lades. Frankly, our local dealership has problems getting retail value of preowned Lades. And so you know, your aftermarket wheels won't add one penny to the value of your Lade. You'd probably do better selling them seperately.

Good luck and let us know how things turn out.

You should have taken 38k IMO.....you are losing money by the month and when the 07 hits....value will fall like an A-Bomb.

My Black on Tan AWD 02 with 50K miles, Extended warranty, new 22's w/305/45/22, E&G classic grill w/lip, exhaust, full tint and clean as a whistle has a trade value at the dealer(s) from 23k-25 depending on the price of the new car.....its the auction price that is driving the prices down which is being hurt by those rebaits and of course gas prices. My buddy bought an 03 denali in 03 new around retail and put 5k into rims w/30k miles......you do not want to know the loss he is going to take on that GMC when he trades in this week for a benz. I think I will start leasing.

How did you get that blemish on the back? It is interesting that my truck has the same one in the same place.
Are you talking about the textured material on the top side of the rear bumper? That is from washer fluid leaking on the material and staining it, I see it on just about ever Escalade that comes to my house, mine is the same way. :(

I had mine fixed under warranty. There's a one way valve that's placed in line with the tubing. Have them replace the plastic bumper piece while your there.:D
Good info. I haven't used my rear washer fluid since I bought my Lade because I didn't want to make that bleaching any worse.

As said there are check valves, I will see if I have the part number for them when I get home this weekend, I got mine from Ford and they cost like 2-3 dollars.
