In my 2005 w/third row seat and BOSE, it is behind a panel just inside the rear hatch, passenger side. Panel pulls off.
Thanks I'll have to check that out. I asked because I was sitting in the car the other day setting all my pre-sets and bumped in to a really great song on XM and cranked the volume. It sure seemed like all the DEEP BASS was coming from the floor under the center part of the dash.

Bass sound is non-directional so as long as some thought has been put into sub placement by the manufacturer you should not be able to tell exctly where the sound is coming from, unlike tweeters (mids and highs) which are directional and are more dependant on accurate placements. I will be undertaking a speaker swap project. I will try to post my findings. I have the bose with 6 cd and 8 speakers in my 2008. Sounds is good, not great. But i am a former musician and very particulat about sounds dynamics and control.

Ever been in a car with better standard sound system? What don`t you like about it? Im just curious, because i really like the sound.
mostly the speed and attack of the mid-woofer/sub combo. seems a bit muddy and slow. (I won't even get into the placement of the tweeters...facing the windshield...?...) Fade your speakers all the way to the rear while you are listening to your favorite tune. Sound quality is awful if you try that. All together the sound is competent and it is loud enough, but when you start to decompose it, it is just not great, I pried the back left quarter panel to look at the sub, I think it is 5 or 6"....and it is muddy and slow, press it gently but firmly with your fingers when you are litening to something with bass, the sound 'tightens up' considerably, just a sign of poor woofer performance. My 2004 honda accord EX had a better sound system stock and I would never have considered changing anything about it. I am not a bass boomer or a kid trying to blow my windows up with sound but I am particular, in a $45-50k automobile, the sound system should be superb.
