I have a 1997 eldo and I have a code for a bad 02 sensor......

I'ts the bank 1 sensor 1 sensor........

I need to know if it'e one of the two 02 sensors that run from the catalytic converter or one of the two 02 sensors that attached to the motor.

I have changed all four before on a 96 STS that I had and if I remember correctly there was one one top of the motor back by the fire wall that was very hard to get to along with the other one on the bottom of the motor that wasn't very easy to get to as well.

Thanks

Jerome

Bank one is the bank where cylinder one is (near the cowl) and sensor one is the first one in line. That means it is the one you dread replacing. It is difficult because the coolant pipes are very close and limit access. Most O2 sockets won't work very well. Good luck.

So in other words if I have the hood up and I'm standing in front of the car which would put the drivers side on my right, it will be the sensor on top of the motor to my right back by the firewall? I know when I had to change the other sensor on the motor it was on the bottom of the motor and I could only reach it from the bottom of the car and the other two went in and out of the Cat. I will look for your reply.

Thanks

Jerome
