Just pulled my old 97 Deville out of Dad's shop (it had been there since March of last year) with Carroll's new studs & Victor Reinz headgaskets.
I'm hoping I was able to solve the issue.

What I need right now is this: Where does the bracket go?
I pulled the motor out of the top & I can't find a spot for it anywhere.

I'm 99% it goes underneath, but I didn't record the exact location before I removed it.

Does anybody have a pic they can show me of it installed?

Thanks & have a great day!

I had my trans out in sept and I recall that bracket. I know it went in correctly but it sure does look odd. There is a slight bend in bracket and even installed right, it seems odd. Seems to me there is a stud and nut under 1 end and a bolt at other end so it just does not want to lay right.

I don't know about you guys but if I didn't know where that bracket went I doubt I would be able to figure it out from that diagram. It looks like it's connecting some gear box to a spindle or old school manual trans input shaft.

Here's some help, the gear box looking part is the leading edge (front of the car) of the transmission as viewed standing at the drivers head lamp looking down into the engine bay. In fact "View A" is the representation of what you would see if your head was arrow A down on the lower part of the diagram showing the complete trans-axle, from behind even though the part in question goes on the front. The part that looks like a spindle or input shaft is actually the O2 sensor in the front exhaust manifold. The bracket bolts to the block under the front exhaust manifold and the transmission.

I'm glad the pics up because putting my engine back onto the trans and front sub-frame is next on my list this Saturday. Hopefully I'll be up and running in a week or two.

The "U" shaped end slips into the engine mount stud closest to the transmission. It is attached with another nut on top of the stud.

The other end slopes downward to the transmission. There will be a bolt hole on the transmission that should line up with the hole on the bracket.

Test fit the bracket to get the orientation right before bolting it in.
