would sanding some paint away from the metal on the rear tire well work as a good ground? If not where have you grounded your system?"

Audio grounds are not supposed to be more than a few feet long. Find a good solid bolt near where you're mounting the amp and just scrape some of the paint away for a good contact. On many of my older cars I've used the seat belt bolts. Look where the factory amp is grounded on the CTS. That should be a decent spot. Pull the side carpet and look for factory grounds, I know they're there...

Like custom said.....I just put mine right on the old factory amp ground ;)

Its in the left side rear panel of the trunk....I havent had a problem and Im running some serious current draw so you should be fine....

But dont forget to run a black wire out of the trunk to the ground :D :D
