Good Q. I've always heard to 18" to 24" away from the exhaust manifold or turbos, but definitely before the cats.
Here's a quick video to back that up. Anyone else have different info? ( I plan to add wideband sensors to both exhaust feeds when I eventually replace my downpipes. )
