I'm sure many of us are awaiting CTS-V's and passing the time scanning this board from time to time. Therefore, I keep hearing that the premium Cadillac dealerships will be sprinkled with showroom CTS-V's anytime now. The main bulk of the cars is supposed to be in another month but that is usually mentioned for timing of the upcoming promotions and commercials.

My local dealership said they had the VIN to their first black CTS-V and that it was "stuck" in Orlando on the truck. This was last week so either it's really stuck or just a bait & switch. If anyone knows of a dealer who has one in, please post it here!

They were announcing at NAIAS today that the V wouldn't be available until early March. NAIAS had a sterling silver V with the Dark Pewter interior by the way(for all of you who had seen the black one at the west coast show). We weren't able to get close to the car either... :(

I've seen 2 silver one's so far. The most recent sighting was yesterday on the Telegraph/Northwestern exit off 696 around 5:30 PM. Driven by a man in his mid 40's most likely, it was silver and pretty dirty with what looked like actual michigan plates but most likely manufacturers plates. I pulled up next to him and tried to get his attention to give the thumbs up but he didn't hear my horn. Must mean the interior of that bad boy is extra quiet or the sound system is kickin!! But even dirty, this car has the understated but dominate stance similiar to what BMW achieved with the last gen M5. I haven't been this excited over a production car in years.

A GM guy drove one into work today. It was a pre-production model. I asked him when they're going to start production ansd he said that if all goes well, they should start the line in two weeks. You should hear the exhaust on the thing. When you pop the hood, there's an LS6 emblem right on the strut brace that goes over the top of the engine. The headlamp washers were cool too.

2nd one spotted in San Francisco, this one is black (1st one spied was silver) the 6 lugs are a dead giveaway (when getting a side view).

Are these all pre-prod models?

When will the 1st car be delivered to the dealers?

Thanks!

Or he's just sitting there thinking "Oh no, not another one".

I've seen two, but they were both at shows. Both black and either roped off or on a platform, not suprisingly. I'll probably be seeing two more in the next two months when I go to two more shows. I have pictures of them, and a lot of other cars including my GTO and LeMans, at http://community.webshots.com/user/supercar_man - More pics will be added soon icluding my SRX, when I can wash it and the temp is above 5 degrees...

One with a SoCal plate frame and the other with Oregon.

They were MOVING! ;)

And for those of you awaiting your CTS-Vs, excerpts from a note on a (nominally BMW-oriented) list you might find fascinating, forwarded with permission of the original author:

---

...I spent the last three days at a Cadillac sponsored dealer comparo during the Houston Super Bowl weekend. The tests were conducted on a one mile long third-gear fast autocross track. We were employed by The Driver Connection to run this event.

<snip>

Here are the cars:
- Cadillac CTSv, 5.7l, 400hp, 395ft/lbs, 0-60 in 4.6, Tremec 6-speed
only, 4pot Brembos and 355mm/365mm f-r rotors (I give you these specs as
I am sure you don't know much about this car)
- BMW M3, 3.2-liter I-6 333hp SMG tranny
- Mercedes C32 AMG, 349-hp supercharged V-6, 5-speed automanual trans

- Cadillac CTSv was unbelievably fast and stable. The car just flew.
Within seconds behind the wheel I was hanging out the rear wheels in an
easily controlled power oversteer. The car had a very minor initial
understeer which was easily transitioned to neutral with the throttle.
Interior appointments were very nice and the seats were perfect and
grippy. The brakes were awesome, too. Control and speed are my lasting
impressions. The styling is MUCH better in person than on film, btw.
- BMW M3 was typically M car. Great initial bite from the front tires
(which have a tendency to wear out fast) and a very nice chassis feel.
Build quality was superb with great seats. The SMG transmission is a POS
which should be removed in favor of a shifter. Power was good but
nowhere near the power band as the Cad which hurt the M3 away from the
apex. Rear seat access is tough.
- Mercedes C32 AMG... A nice car which is sneaky fast. Nice torque off
the line with a smooth, progressive power band. Transitions were
nimble, but the car felt less grippy than I wanted. The interior quality
was the best by a very slim margin over the other two. I didn't really
like the 'Motec' like central message center in the tach, but that's
just me. The Merc felt small and cramped to me. The shifter worked as
good in D as it did when hand shifted. Overall, the C32 seemed like an
answer to a question that I didn't ask.

Conclusion:
As shocking as it is to say, I LOVE the CTSv. If I could only have one
car to drive (track, to work, on a date, grocery shopping, etc) this car
could fill the bill. Plenty of big-league fun is available, but the car
is also very civil when you just drive it sanely. It is distinctive and
possibly the nicest and fastest sedan in its price range. Go drive one,
you'll be amazed.
