I have a 95 Deville, whats is the normal engine operation temperature? Between 194f? My car works between 194 and 215f is this correct?

Does anyone know what the correct working temperature of the Deville 95 engine is?

Moderator edit: Your temps are correct. Thread from incorrect RWD forum has been moved here. Sub.

Ok, thanks, do you know what is the highest temperature it can reach in normal function?
=================
"NORMAL SUSTAINED TEMP" is 195 -

remembering my 95 Deville - under extreme conditions -
90* ambient - AC on - stuck in bumper to bumper traffic - 225 to 230 wasn't too unusual -
HOWEVER - as soon as traffic sped up to 30+ mph -
the temp quickly went back down to 195 -

The thermostat (original) was set to begin opening at 188F and fully open at 206F. A Northstar with the cooling system in good condition should run at from about 190F to 210F at all times, maybe to 224F if stalled in hot, heavy traffic with no A/C compressor function set.

Fans are supposed to run in SLOW at all times any A/C or DEFROST function is set.

Fans should go to SLOW at 224F and to FAST at 236F.

Overheat (Camel Mode) occurs at about 274F.

Google "cadillac forums northstar coolant purge line cleaning".

All these Northstars use the same coolant temp sender, so the ticks on my gauge correspond with yours......

OK - you can see coolant temp in real time, so use your numbers against my gauge for "normal" (green area) readings.

Ok, thanks very very much - I am new to cadillacs, but finally I was able to buy the Deville of my dreams as a young man and I have many doubts and fears that it will break, because in Mexico it is all more expensive

Shouldn’t his Deville have a 4.6 liter Northstar?

I know the Devilles were a year or 2 late on getting the Northstars, because they didn’t get them in 93’ with their older body style, and I think the Deville Concours got it in 94’ but I thought they all had them by 95’... Yea I can’t think right now. Lol.

OH wait, I was thinking Northstar. HG failure is not common at all in the 4.9.
You asked if 257° is normal. I assumed you where actually seeing a 257° running temperature.
