I think the left/right adjustment is that bit sticking off the back. You can't get to it with a philips head from the top, but, I think, a 7mm wrench will do it.

Thanks to all for the info. And yes, I've been wondering about the engineering decision to bury the battery so deep. As an aside question, is the battery vented in any way? On the BMW E39 i had prior to my ATS the battery was in the trunk under a very simple door and easy to get at. It was vented via a plastic tube to the right rear wheel well. E39's with defective right rear lighting suffered from corrosion caused by battery fumes rising from directly beneath the lighting assembly if the tube wasn't present or slipped off its connector.

The ATS also vents to battery through a small tube. Not sure where it leads, though.
