From 1996 to 1999 what deville was the best?
Which almost isn't even worth it, because you can get a crate 350 for $2500None. They all had the early Northstar engines that like to blow headgaskets, which is a $4000 repair job and maybe more if the entire engine must be replaced. Go with a base '95 DeVille. It has the 4.9 which is dead nuts reliable.
Perhaps you should have asked the years 1994-1999.The '94-'95 had the reliable 4.9 liter engine--'96-'99 had the Northstar engine. As mentioned, the 1994-1996 had the skirted look over the rear tires and squared wheelweells---a classier look. The 1997-1999 had the round, open wheelwells all around---a sportier look. From 1996 to 1999 what deville was the best?
The thing I hate about all the 94-99s is their fat back end.Perhaps you should have asked the years 1994-1999.The '94-'95 had the reliable 4.9 liter engine--'96-'99 had the Northstar engine. As mentioned, the 1994-1996 had the skirted look over the rear tires and squared wheelweells---a classier look. The 1997-1999 had the round, open wheelwells all around---a sportier look.
You cannot simply drop a crate 350 into a originally Northstar powered car. The car is so electrically intertwined that removing the engine would screw over the rest of the car. I have never seen it done because it takes A LOT of time, effort and head scratching.Which almost isn't even worth it, because you can get a crate 350 for $2500
Fleetwood with pincushion seats and real wood trim FTW!JoJo_Brand_Star said:I think the best year has got to be the 1988 Cadillac Deville
Very true.^ Listen to this man, for he speaks no lie. '93's are win in its purest form.
Yeah, I guess that's a downside to newer cars. You cannot simply drop a crate 350 into a originally Northstar powered car. Yeah, it pisses me off too. I have had it apart a few times to try and adjust it but then I gave up.Oh boy do I miss that classic analog red gear indicator marker!! I remember as a little boy in my parents caddy always looking at it and thinking "Why does it never look centered on each letter of each gear??"
