Oh hahaha.... well, here goes.

I was 17, and took the formerly-mine 929 to school that morning because dad had the day off. RWD + rain = fun. I was sliding it around corners, and enjoying it actually... so I decided to do ONE MORE right in front of the school. Well, I got a little too sideways, and stupidly tapped the brake. Sent the car all the way around and hopped all 4 wheels up over the curb. It broke the seal on the two left-side tires, so there was no pushing it out, and even bent a rim. Fortunately, dad had bought a set of RX8 takeoffs from a guy for $300 (he needed rent money) so those went on the car and it was able to go home, but oh boy did I get an ass-whooping when I got out of school that day...

Having a temper tantrum in my Dad's Buick one freezing winter morning....I slammed my fist down onto the cold plastic dash and cracked it. OOPS!

I think it would have to be when I totalled my sister's Escort with my mom's Cadillac. Fortunately, the Caddy wasn't hurt. It was unintentional, I swear!

Probably all the damage I caused to the rear differential on my '95 Roadmaster. I tell ya it's hard NOT to do a burnout in one of those things when you're 17, especially when you've got the posi-traction rear end. :) The rear diff would clunk bad when coming out of a turn under acceleration. I never looked into it and sold it to a 74 year old pastor would would probably never drive it hard enough to get it to act up.

Back when I made the mistake of buying that brand new 2003 Passat, it was in for a bad catalytic converter (yes, brand new) and I got a loaner Passat to drive. That car was involved in a series of "adventures"... one of which resulted in a traffic cone somehow melting itself to the undercarriage...

Enterprise should probably ban me. Took a Saturn Aura to Bonneville, caked it with salt at 110mph, then drove it through a swampy part of North Dakota where the bottom of it got caked with frog guts (mating season, they were crossing the road). Also climbed and descending some serious mountain areas in northern California and Utah.

It was a great car though! Put 10,000 miles on that rental. Brought it back needing a brake job.

I don't think I've ever really done anything too serious to a car. I guess the worst thing would be in the 2008 Kia Rhondo rental I had in '08. I went to visit friends in St. Petersburg, Fl. Just outside of downtown there is a hill the locals refer to as "thrill hill". From the side of the hill going into town it didn't look very threatening so I didn't pay a lot of attention to the speed limit. I topped the hill and the road disappeared! No damage was done, but all four tires left the pavement. That was freakin fun. I drove the snot out of it the week I had it. I picked it up with 1,600 miles on it and returned it with 3,200 miles. :D

I thought long and hard about this, and the one that I think bears repeating is. When I was in college, I worked for Tousley Ford in White Bear Lake MN. I was a parts delivery driver. I drove a series of 97-04 (Graduated college in 04) F-150 4X2 XL V6 reg. cab Long beds with wooden racks. Well one day I was having trouble finding a hood out in the warehouse so I pulled my pickup up to the front of the parts depot to go in and seek help from a guy that knew the warehouse like the backside of his hand. I go inside and the gentleman is busy on the computer and said it would be a few minutes, so I sit down and BS with him while I am waiting. About 10 minutes later I hear someone yell, “JOHN” and run for the front door. I get up and wander to the front assuming my pickup is in someone’s way and needs to be moved. When I get out there I notice my pickup is missing. I thought “did someone steal it?” Well my suspicions were quelled when I noticed several people running towards the woods at the end of the lot. Apparently I left the pickup in neutral (yes it was an automatic) and eventually it decided to start to roll. It rolled all the way across the parking lot, and turned down the exit ramp towards the highway, then it hit the curb and the wheel went immediately the right lock. Then it jumped the curb crossed the grass, and went down a big hill into the woods. It travelled through the woods about 100’ somehow missing every tree. I was expecting the worst, but somehow it survived with only a few scratches from the tree branches. I went and got out Bronco push truck which had chains on the back, hooked it up and pulled the pickup out. I was sure I was going to get fired but instead my boss just laughed. He couldn’t figure out how it happened. To this day I can’t either. Who leaves an automatic pickup in neutral.
