I disagree. Society has always been stupid (think how low average is), it's just social media allows us to SEE a lot more of the stupidity.

Oh, no, much dumber than before. Perfect example - a 1950's manual used to have things like how to adjust your tappets after removing your valve covers. Now, instead of that your manual tells you not to drink battery acid.
