I'm just curious about what ya'll think of the new Lexus IS 350. I've never even given Lexus a second thought in my life, but this new model certainly intrigues me. It seems to really perform.

Here's a link of a recent test. It runs 0-60 in 5.1 and the quarter in 13.7 @ 104 mph. Looks like they start around $36k and run up to $43k fully loaded.

Just for comparison, the only road test from Car and Driver that I could find for the V is this one; running the V 0-60 in 5.2 and the Quarter in 13.7 @ 107 mph. Obviously these times are low for the V, but it the only article I could find for the V in that rag.

I'm very much a GM and American car guy but have owned a few foreign cars when they design a car I can stomach for a resonable price. Like I said, I've never even thought about Lexus before. I like the new design and the technology and interior is great. It's all probably pretty mild compared to the V though....

I certainly do, I really considered one for a while....but the loaded IS350 the way I want it costs about $45k.......

I usually dont disagree with my buddy Powerglide but this car just doesnt do anything for me at all. BMWs may (or may not) be more problematic etc. but for that kind of money Id be insane to purchase a Lexus over the tremendous 3 Series. Like most Lexii, it just doesnt have any visual excitement going on at all.

I hate Lex-suckses! Nice bodystyle though. But I hate Lex-suckses! :vomit:

Their too cheaply built. I saw my friend who had a lex-sucks, back into a pole at about .03mph and his rear bumper fell OFF!

I think its a good looking, fast, luxurious car, built with excellent engineering and high standards...But i would probably not ever buy one, because I dont like Toyota, and I would rather give my money to an american or german company

Hell no, did you read my post? His bumper FELL OFF, and it wasn't even hit hard at all. It was an IS 300.
They are too cheaply built for the price they're sold at. <-that's why I hate them.

I'll save my money for a lamborghini.

Hey you, watch your mouth:mad:!!! I won't tolerate bashing like that on these forums.

Just because you happen to be a lexus fanboi doesn't mean that everyone else has to be too.:annoyed: I think Lexus are quite possible the most BLAND looking cars on earth, and I certainly am not the only one... Why pay $50,000 for a car that will get mistaken for a Hyundai Sonata???:

And that's the crux of the matter - no matter how much horsepower Toyota squeezes out of that V6, or how many "advancements" they have, it's still a Lexus, and it still looks like a Lexus...

/end of rant:lildevil:

I really like this new Lexus. I think this is a much better evolution than the GS430. I expected the GS to really raise the bar on performance, but from what I've read so far they backed up! This IS350 is another story. Expect a few V owners will have their hands full with one of these, street, track or other.

Ben72227 you gotta be kidding me if you think those 2 look alike. You seriously need glasses if you do!

And no Im not a fanboi, but they do make some very nice cars. And the IS is anything but bland. The LS maybe, but its still a very nice looking car.

About the bumper on the Lex, my friggen Escalade bumper popped off the damn hinge that holds it to the front without anything even hitting anything, but you dont see me calling it a POS, b/c its not. Actually people in the Escalade forum have had their front bumpers pop off from a car wash. But that doesnt make them garbage.

A woman that I work with drives a Lexus GS and she has never had a single problem with it. I'm certainly no fan of their styling, but Lexus builds their cars to high[er] standards than many American car companies do.

I probably won't ever own one myself, but for people who can afford them and don't care about the styling, they made a smart purchase.

P.S. Are you sure your friend was driving a Lexus and not a Hyundai?

:yeah:

I don't think they are cheaply made either. In fact I think they are better made than many competitors.

I always thought the old version IS300 looked cheap inside, my coworked who owns one said he has never had one problem, rattle, squeak or nothing. (but thats just one mans opinion)

Anyways, its the best lookin Lexus out there IMHO!

I don't see why I got negative for this post. I was just stating my opinion, not trying to force it on others. It doesn't look offensive to me (unless you're an employee of lexus).... :hmm:

I personally have not been giving out negative points.

I think it looks real good, and I like the various numbers im seeing on it, but i dunno, somethign about japanese cars I just dont like (i love infiniti though) No matter how good a car lexus ever makes, I dont see myself ever buying one. I just dont like lexus, something about them just dosnt get to me. Ive ridden in various lexus models, the leather is way to soft, the ride is too soft, the engine barely revs or makes any noise, I mean for certain people those are good things, but I like feeling the road, I like hearing my engine rev high, I enjoy more spirited driving at times, which no lexus has been able to do. Id much rather go get a BMW 3 series or another European or American car.

Might be soulless and shallow, but it's going to be more efficient, well built, and problem-free than any other soulless and shallow vehicle out there. Lexus is like White Castle. Either you love it or you hate it, there's not much gray area. Still can't deny that Lexus builds what are most likely the best-built cars in the world.
