Enterprise will be the cheapest way for me to rent a car, since I'm under 25. I'm going to be driving to Columbia MO (120mi) and back (120mi) and then to the airport. I also need room for luggage and two people (including myself).

Here's my options:
Chevy Aveo - $48
Dodge Neon - $48
Pontiac Sunfire - $50
Chevy Cavalier - $50
Dodge Stratus - $56
Grand Am - $56
Ford Taurus - $56
Grand Prix - $56

I dont know a whole lot about these cars.

They're out of Town Cars and Devilles. I assume the Taurus is the quietest and roomiest of the bunch? A Bonneville would be nice but $76 seems like a bit much.

Grand Prix or Taurus.

The Grand Prix will probably be faster, but sportier and less comfortable, from what i have experienced the Taurus is soft, comfortably, roomy and everything youd expect from a mid size family Ford.

Of those, the "nice" cars are the:

Dodge Stratus, my cousin has an '01 ES with the 2.7.... pretty nice car.

Grand Prix.... the new '04+ style? if so, real nice.

Grand Am... probably the base SE model with the 2.2L Ecotec, nice cars, and I like them.... I belong to a Grand Am club though the GT looks alot better.

the Taurus is a well rounded car too....

so my order would be:

Grand Prix
Stratus
Grand Am
Taurus

I'm with Craig on this, the Grand Prix or the Taurus but I don't think much of the prices there. Last month in Dalas I rented a Durango for less than $40. Oh, wait a minute, it was a Dodge! They should have paid me! HEY!! I WAS RIPPED OFF!!!! :rant2:

Enterprise has the lowest youth penalty ($10 instead of $25) making it about $10 cheaper than the others.

avoid the dodge , i had one at indy , terrible car ...only one car i rented was worse , it was a suzuki esteem (or lackthereof)....

The grand prix has been one of the most fun to drive fleet fillers ive had the privlage of renting in a long time ....but the tarus is nice ....but not as much fun ...

for sheer fun id get an aveo and beat the piss out of it ....but it sure wont be confy ....

i almost had a SRX for the weekend , enterprise who rents cars for us at the dealership was doing some 10 bucks a day speical ....which is a little beatter than my normal rate ...

i couldnt bring myself ot leave gladys at the dealership for ther weekend ....i cant bare to leave her anywhere as it is ....

OK get this, when my wife was away at a training course recently, her and two collegues needed to rent a car for four days. They booked a luxury automatic car, they got a Mercedes Benz C200, which is ok, it cost £350 for four days rental, and three drivers to be regestered.

£350 = $600

We had an 89 Sable LS that was a sweet little ride until my wife was rear-ended. The car was repaired and later replaced by the Aerostar. We sold the Sable to my Brother-in-law who drove it for years after until the engine finaly gave up. Very nice car indeed.

I drove a Sable belonging to a friend of mine when we were staying at his holiday house in Florida, it was comfortable, surprisingly fast, and it did the job tremendously.

The day later we rented a Chrysler Concorde, but i could have easily driven a Taurus/Sable the whole time....

Some allow 18-24, some allow only 21-24. All of them charge $25/day extra for being under 25 (except Enterprise which is $10). Some charge even more for being under 21.

Some will also restrict what kind of car you can rent, being reluctant to rent a Tahoe or a Deville to a teenager.

Grand Prix. The 3.8L is torquey and decently peppy. Orange dash illumination is cool and there's decent luggage space. The Taurus is probably comprable in size but I didn't think there were any new Taurii. They replaced it with the 500. So you've got a better chance of getting a new-new car with the Grand Prix.

Grand Prix...I've always liked Grand Prix and Pontiac in general.

I rented the Grandprix and the Taurus lately.

They are both pretty lame but I can say the GP surprissed me positively with its solid tracking handling (realtively) and ok interior

Taurus made me puke to think they are manufacturing and selling such a lousy car in 2005......the thing was jittery and darty on the highway, real crap interior, engine thrashed and buzzed but barely propelled the car....WOW what a POS!!

PS I really hoped that Thrify would have given me the Magnum instead (same price and class as Taurus)

From that list I'd rent the Taurus. They're nice to drive and comfortable. And turbojimmy they still do make them.
