Hey Fellow STSers...

I'm sure this topic has been run before... But its just easier to post...

I always use 93+ Octane, but have found myself frequenting some of the
cheaper (Raceway/Pitstop) gas stations lately. I've heard stories of the cheaper gas and such... Was wondering what the "Best" gas out there is???

This can be subjective or not...? Would love to hear folks perspective on this.

i use whatever is the cheapest in my area. usually a car wash place called Delta Sonic. their regular is real cheap because they buy it in big bulk. their higher grades arent that great of a deal. thats why ill sometimes go to the Mobil that is closer to me but near the Delta Sonic they are within in the same area so about the same prices for higher grades.

Right now I have Citgo 87 octane in my tank, I got the cheap stuff because it's only $2.09 per gallon now, and that's the cheapest its been is a looooong time. Usually I fill up with 93 octane from Shell.

What about the SLSs and Eldos? We're all family.

I use the same Shell all the time, unless I am out of town. Fortunatley, the Shell I use is less than a year old. One of the least expensive stations in the area and they offer points towards free products in their store. Upon request, they give you a little shopping card tag that you swipe at the pump when you fill up.

I am weary of using just any gas station. My wife filled my car up at a downtown station and I ended up having some serious problems from water in the gas.

I find myself using Texaco gas, their midgrade flavor. $2.17 and dropping faster all the time. It seems that regular unleaded gives me similar performance/MPG, but I haven't had the car long enough to make an accurate determination. The Texaco here advertises no ethanol in their fuel.

I have a few stations I normally frequent and several that I avoid. I avoid anything that has that oxygenated crap in it as it does nothing for pollution, just costs more, and winds up giving me less MPG. Around here, oxygenated fuel isn't mandatory, but some stations carry Ethanol-tainted fuel anyway.

In my 99 SLS, I only use 93 octane Mobil gas. Everywhere I go around where I live, there's Mobils in almost every town. I try to keep my car above half full just in case I do some long driving and I need to find a Mobil, it's only a matter of time that I bump into one and half a tank should get me to one. Right now, the price for mine is down to $2.49 per gallon from the mid $3 range at it's high. I try to stick to Mobil gas and oil for my baby.

If it's combustable, and has an Octane rating of 93 or higher, than it goes in the tank. I usually try to stick with the "brand name" gas stations that get more traffic, since the gas doesn't sit in the tanks as long, and is usually a little more fresh. Less chance of getting crud or water through the line. Other than that, pretty much anything.

I'm in Jersey and we have these Racetrack stations... They usually have very high volume... So gas doesn't usually sit. Makes sense danbuc.

I have friends who say nothing is better than BP-Amoco Ultimate! But that stuff is expensive... $2.35 here...

jeez Where are you guys located. I use only premium from Shell or BP from around 2.05-2.15 depending on what part of town I'm in. Never tried the other stuff. The highest the gas got was around 3.75 and I didnt let the car go pass 3/4 before I was topping it off. oh yeah Augusta GA

Cheapest 87 Octane I can find... I have zero brand loyalty when it comes to gas...

PS If you're running anything other than 87 Octane in any '01 or new N* you are wasting money. On older N*s you are probably wasting money.
