This thread is for Cadillac Escalades that are between 2010-2014 with the AFM only.

Also what are somethings that everyone loves about their truck?

Please list mileage and year please!

Here is my story I bought a 2007 suburban with the 5.3l with 276,xxx truck ran perfect and I loved it. Well one day we all know what happened....... cylinder 7 misfire and a dead lifter with a lot of ticking. I put trans fluid in the motor and after about two weeks that lil lifter started working again and the misfire was gone and I was so happy. Well...... then about a month BOOM cylinder 7 is completely dead with no compression.

Fast forward two months and I am wanting an escalade, something I have always wanted.... So I only want a escalade with the 6.2l, since I loved my suburban but not the motor I want a escalade because I was terrified to buy another truck with AFM. Well three weeks after I bought it I notice on the dash it say V4, when I say my heart sank, I mean it sank! I immediately but a tuner to tune it out.

My small issues are: tilting wheel not working, drivers heated and cooled seat not working, rear TVs not working, drivers reverse light not working (yes bulb is good. it just works when it wants.),needs front ball joints. leaking oil from rear main seal, transmission like slight leak, backup sensors, and no a/c due to busted line. I have put about 1,000 dollars into fixing the truck and most things work now. When i bought it there was multiple electric issues. Well the fuse panel was not plugged in right. Once that was done almost everything started working. I love this truck just wish it didn't have AFM and I wish there was less rust.. Truck is a 2010 Escalade ESV with 194,000 miles on it. Paid 7,000 cash did I get a good deal? Interior is perfect, no dents, paint pretty decent.

Hey welcome from SoCal. Nice intro and congrats on getting a 10 for $7. That’s a smok’n deal and you’re way ahead on any potential repairs based on that price.

The break down on model years when big changes occurred was 07-09 for the Non AFM L92 & L9H and the 10-14 L94 with AFM or ...

07-10 with true A/C front seats. 11-14 have fan only vented front seats, air bags moved from pillars into the front seats, steering wheel lock, tempered windshield type glass in front doors, a new, less reliable front door card panel.

There's a few more odds & ends but that's the meat & potatoes. As far as AFM it's hit n miss. At this moment AFM owners are discovering that the L96 & LY6 6.0L Non AFM Reg gas 360hp truck engines from the 2500 Burb, Yukon & truck are a direct drop in for the L94 6.2. Some of the L96 & LY6 are flex fuel + Reg gas too. Food for thought.

What’s going on w/ ur truck is typical. Just take it piece by piece.

You can drop the V4/AFM a few ways:
  1. Use the Tow Mode,
  2. Use a dedicated device: https://www.summitracing.com/search...s-and-modules/year/2013/make/cadillac/model/escalade-ext/brand/range-technology
  3. Use a programmer with "canned/preset" tunes. I use a Hypertech Max Energy 2.0 (part number 2000), they are no longer made, but you may find a used one cheap). This option is nice as it can also program other things like performance, shift firmness, tire size, gear ratio, etc. : https://www.summitracing.com/search...rtBy=DisplayPrice&SortOrder=Ascending&N=filter-options:in-stock_vendor-in-stock
  4. Have a performance shop custom tune it.
