I recently saw a ESC with a pinstripe. The owner said it was a factory pinstripe. Could that be so?

I think it is after market. The ones on my 2000 ETC have a miniscule difference between them.

Depends on the year and model, and most of them were factory - not painted - tape. My STS has a 2-tone tape stripe pair, 1/8" apart, tapered together at the front and rear.

Most good body shops can do an excellent job of tape pinstripe, but it takes a dedicated, professional striper to do the hand painted versions.

Well, my '98 has an RPO entry: YM5 Stripe Accent-Delete which I am assuming is referencing the stripe on the outside. In my case "NOT". This certainly suggests that there is a factory option.
