Ok those of you on my facebook already read and know some about my dilemma. I worked for Wells Fargo for 6 years and they fired me with no notice. I am going to paste my note to facebook below let me know what you guys think. I know I messed up posting the original note that got me fired but do you guys think they violated my constitutional rights ? I am sure I signed some kind of policy but shouldn't they still have to follow the us constitution ?
Well anyway I will paste my note explaining my situation now.

Today I got fired from Wells Fargo after six years with now write up or warning. They said I posted a note on here degrating the company. I will admit I put a note up here but it was regarding my own personal situation. I was angry about them taking away our bonuses and taking away our merit increases. I deleted the note and thought nothing of it. Well today I got called into a room and fired for the note. My boss told me someone on the team brought it to his attention. I know that wasn't true as my profile is private. He was either abusing our call monitoring system or someone on my friends list actually turned me in. Funny thing is he was on my friends list so that is probably how he got wind of it. I don't think my other friend I work with would do that to me but hell who knows. Tomorrow I will go file for unemployment and start looking for another job. Truth is I wasn't happy with my job and was looking for another position within wells. I guess now I will have to look at another company alltogether.

Sorry, but you're screwed.

They can't abuse their call monitoring system, as it is their system. They are entitled (big brother as it is) to record every word you say and have someone transcribe it for your management to read every word.

Next time, I wouldn't list your employer on FB, nor mention them in notes. It's not fair, but they can do pretty much anything they want...

Facebook is a funny and political site. You got busted for jabbing at your employer. Get off your butt, find another job, and stop collecting unemployment.

I have never had a supervisor that I consider myself close enough of "friends" with that I'd friend him on the internet. If nothing else I'd be embarrased for him to see the things I post up there.

However, even if I did, I would never post a derrogatory note about my employer, or for that matter post ANY personally identifiable information about myself anywhere on the internet. That has nothing to do with getting fired, it's for my own personal security.

It's interesting I never knew that you worked for Wells Fargo, I've been working for one of your rival banks since Feb. of 2001. (I'm sure you can guess, it starts with a B). The situation is dire in the financial industry right now, I honestly don't expect to have a job very much longer because the banks are looking to trim the budget wherever they can. It's messed up, but I can almost guarantee you that if this had happened 2 years ago, you would have just been asked to remove the note or given a warning, rather than straight-up fired.

Actually it is not to bad here I have had a few interviews and it has been barely a month. I am trying real hard to get one this is really boring during the day. Unemployment is alright but I would rather work. I am kind of sticking it to Wells considering they are the ones that have to pay the unemployment. And if I run out of money my mortgage is with them so that will go over nicely if they have to call to collect. lol

I agree I had my head in my butt but I think I will be in a better place and can find something better.

I'm actually pretty bad. Look at the header above this post. Age: "99" LOL. I have to trust the people on the forum I'm on a little also before I'll post my location and I always use a handle rather than my actual name.

The internet is a dangerous place now. My Aunt is a lead accountant for an advertising company (can't remember which one, she moves around a lot) and she recently did not hire someone because of his Facebook. She said, "If he is too stupid to make it private then he is too stupid to work for me."

It's becomming all too common. I've heard several stories similar to this lately. It makes me wish I had never gotten on facebook.

Having been in college when Facebook started and was colleges only, I've heard lots of stories first hand from people who were fired, arrested, or weren't offered jobs, generally because of the pictures that they posted or were posted by other people. Our career services group was encouraging anyone who was looking for a job to go through and purge their facebook/myspace profiles at least several months before you start looking no matter how you set your privacy level. I've got several good friends who are new teachers and they now spend several hours in orientation discussing social networking sites, and what your expected to do if one of your students "friends you" and so on....and they're GRADE SCHOOL TEACHERS!

I can't believe that people would bad mouth their bosses and employers in a public place and then expect sympathy when it all blows up in their face. You can never be sure who your true friends might be until the shit hits the fan.
