Cadillac is trying to get your interest up in their announcement during the February 22nd Oscars by promoting a 5 minute Youtube video of nothing but a white screen. zzzzzzzzzzzz. Sorry there-for a moment-looking at the white screen put me to sleep.

That's right in line with Cadillacs brilliant marketing strategy as devised by people like Melody Lee, Director of Brand and Reputation Strategy.

Re: Well-This Is Interesting Or Not

As a black environmentalist with an OLED big screen, I am outraged at the waste of electricity and inherent racial message.

I'm actually none of those, but if I was, I really would be outraged.

much as I dislike racial stereotypes, just wondering if it's a coincidence that she appears to be of Asian descent? Move Cadillac to NYC, hire an Asian brand manager, try to be something other than a car?? If the quotes from her are accurate, the brand is in trouble. Ask anyone at Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Plymouth, Saturn, etc.
Re: Well-This Is Interesting Or Not

I didn't think it could get this bad, ..... but apparently it has! And people called me down for being skeptical about the new management and the relocating of the headquarters to NYC.

I truly hope that Alfa Romeo's re-entry to the U.S. market is for real this time, so that I will have more choices than just Jaguar!

When did Roger Smith have a sex change?
Re: Well-This Is Interesting Or Not

I am afraid Ms. Lee has been so imbued with her heritage's linking of brand to prestige that, like contemporary Koreans so overwhelmingly do, that she values social prestige and current fashion over intrinsic beauty and performance. I would be surprised if a broad spectrum of the American public will buy into her view of luxury and prestige.

Re: Well-This Is Interesting Or Not

I agree with her view on consumers that purchase designer, luxury brands and or trendy brands.
Re: Well-This Is Interesting Or Not

I agree that even here in the U.S. that the youthful market's buying decisions seem to be "brand" dictated.
But I don't know that this is true of those older members (40 and older) who are the real market for Luxury/executive class" cars. Un less Cadillac realizes that the prestige of their products must be built from the top level down and not vice versa, as they seem to have attempted. There prestige will only grow when they produce a car that is of at least, and preferably superior, in build quality, design and performance to those cars favored currently by those who can afford $80,000 and up for a car. Very few cars, today, can boast real prestige in the marketplace.

Cadillac needs to produce a Elmiraj clone and price it so that it is really an exclusive product affordable only to the upper end of their target market. Then they can build cars that are attainable to a broader upper middle class.
Re: Well-This Is Interesting Or Not

I don't know if the US broadcast had the same Cadillac adverts during the first two hours of the Oscars last night but I thought they were pretty neat. Only drawback I could find is that IMHO they didn't show enough car. The 2015s are even more gorgeous than the 2014s.

Let's just say they certainly are not uglyfying the Cadillac sedans...

They're trying to rebrand. I happen to like it. I swore a long time ago not to buy American made cars (I had a Taurus...bleh...), then the 2008 CTS arrived and each year it looked better and better.

That's good GM, so I bought one and both myself and my wife love the car. We could've had a Merc, but we'd have spent a week/month at the dealership fixing issues with it, we could've had a series 5 BMW but that would've tagged us as lawyers, stock brokers or real estate agents and we're neither.

We could've gone all out and bought an Audi if we really wanted to come across as douchebags. Audis are the new BMW... (my apologies if you drive an Audi, but if you do, why are you on a Cadillac forum?)

I looked at the online reviews by real life customers, not some press agency that gets a paid week at the Bahamas by a brand to participate in tests for the aforementioned brand. Cadillac is at the top. The VERY top of customer reviews.

I find it sad that the press doesn't work that way, but hey, I'm an artist and I know the sad sad way in which the mainstream media works.

No money for the press? No funny... just ask any musician, writer, actor, etc.
