Everytime i tap the gas theres an odd click noise that comes from the left side of the car, it also makes the sound when im coming to a stop at the last second that the wheels are moving before the car actually stops. It sounds just like the click noise you hear when the a/c compressor comes on and starts to turn. Its def not the a/c compressor though and i took it to the dealer and they could not diagnose it. Its starting to drive me nuts. You guys have any idea.

My 99 does that although I've only heard it using the brakes. I assumed it was the CVRSS suspension changing the shock valving to prevent nosedive. Keep in mind I haven't checked the FSM to even see if the CVRSS works that way in the first place, but it was a good enough explanation to get me to stop thinking about it. But isn't yours a Magnaride car?

I also have the same strange noise and exactly same what you described .It's like it's coming from under the gear selector as well .

more info on the noise
1 its only a one time click, if i tap to rev it up it will click once then if i tap it it will click again its not a continual click click
2 the noise will also occur if i start the car, allow the gauges to read and then immediately shut it off. By it doing it during this time i was able to stick my head under the hood to listen to it while someone else starts and shuts off the car, it sounds like its coming from the tranny, could it be the torque converter, the other day i was driving the car and the traction control light came on with codes C1277 and P1571
C1277:
The PCM diagnoses the requested torque signal circuit and sends a serial data message to the EBCM indicating a fault is present.
P1571:
One of the following conditions exists:

* The PCM detects that requested torque signal is out of the valid range.
* The PCM does not receive the requested torque signal.

I am not sure about your noise.
The DTCs you have listed indicate a possible fault in the wiring, the PCM and/or the EBTCM, however I wouldn't go tossing any parts on without doing some real testing.

The PCM and EBTCM communicate on a separate bus, each module supplies a 5V signal to the other and the other module grounds that circuit in a pulse width modulated pattern to tell the other module what it is doing.

For example, if the EBTCM wants the PCM to reduce torque output to the trans to control wheel slip it will "request" reduced torque by varying the signal. The PCM sees this request and answers back with a torque delivered message.
This can be a tricky problem to diagnose, particularly if it is intermittent.
If the light comes on all the time, it might be easy to find.

There are lots of things that can make noise up there.
It is really hard to say without having driven the car.

You are describing MY noise exactly. I had asked a while ago, but I said it was like a relay clicking. Happens when I step on the gas after I've slowed down to all but nothing or stopped. I didn't get any replies...*sniff sniff*. It comes from the left side of the dash area.

Apparently I have lots of noises & this one is minor. I try to ignore it. But I WOULD like to know the cause.

I too hear the click, but I also slightly feel it through the gas pedal.
ETC, do you feel it clicking?
I figured it was something to do with the front end components, but
it doesn't affect the car's performance .... just a click, and I don't usually
hear it with the radio on, I simply feel a quick click.

Sorry, no answers, but I'm following this thread closely.

My '01 has a similar noise. Mine sounds more like Lesley's noise actually. I work on a military base, and so I have to stop at the gate every morning and show ID. When I accelerate from a stop, with the window open, you can hear a slight "crinkling" noise coming from the left front area. Sounds like a wheel/tire thing, but I doubt it is because the tires have been rotated without any change in the problem. I've never had it diagnosed, it's not a real big deal to me. The noise is very quiet, and you can only hear it up next to a building with the window down.

Sorry I can't be of more help, let me know if they find anything.
I'd just have to hear it to tell you what the deal was.

I don't think tranny. I think electrical.

My noise happens just as I step on the gas from a standstill. I noticed if I have my foot under the pedal applying pressure upwards, my parking brake releases right up to where its supposed to be when I hear this noise. My parking brake has never worked - it can be completely engaged & the car drives as normal. But when I hear the noise, the brake goes right up to where it belongs without me having to use the (well hidden) lever.

To me, the noise is like an electrical relay picking. Somewhere in the dash. Most certainly in the car on the drivers side. Not on the outside of the car. Not mechanical.

However, since the parking brake us supposed to release when the car is put in gear, it very well may be tranny related.

I'm just going by what I've experienced.

Or maybe some sort of tranny control module..wiring is ****ed? I dunno. These new ones are quite complicated. The only real tips I can give you is to wait until that problem is consistent and then take it to the dealer and they'll be able to diagnose it much easier. Instead of you throwing money away for the mechanic's time to look at it and find nothing's wrong.
