Watkins Glen International Raceway opened to the public today. My wife and son drove the CTS-V around the track while I took pictures. I didn't see any other V's there today.

I can't wait till I get to one of the track days in the next month or two, to see how the V handles at the track.

AZStar, congrats on your car. Nice to see it on the track, even if just for a casual drive. I may be attending an event up at Watkins Glen in late June (26th -28th) with the Porsche PCA, although I currently have an '05 Mustang (attended an event with them last year Labor day at VIR in Va that went real well). Let me know if you're interested in attending that event and I will follow up with some contacts on my end. If I can sell my '05, I am looking to get into either an '09 or '10 CTS-V also (btw, I like your color choice!).

Hamm:

End of June sounds great. My boys will be out of school and they would enjoy coming along too. I have not attended one of these events before. Does the PCA allow non-Porches at their events? It would be fun for sure to see how the CTS-V fares against some Porches.

It seems like they have become a bit more liberal with allowing non-Porsche makes to attend events. I will follow up with one of the guys that helps coordinate the events. When I attended with a couple of friends this past Sept ('05 Mustang, 01' Rousch Mustang and an '08 Subaru turbo wagon of some sort, not the WRX), we had a good time and the cars actually did well in the green group. There was also an '03 M5 out there running in a different group. I would love to see the CTS-V out on the track. Still primarily Porsche, however, a decent opportunity to run up there at the end of June. I'll follow up with you with a bit more detail once I confirm. Thanks.

Just wanted to follow up regarding that PCA club event June 26th - 28th up at the Glen. His name is Alan Herod and contact email is: [email protected]

Alan also instructs at club events also...really nice guy who has pushed to enable other makes attend Porsche events. He did tell me he thinks that one of the head instructors has a 'V' as a daily driver (didn't say what year...maybe a member on this site!).

Anyway, he can provide you more info on this track event if you're interested. Let me know if you decide to attend...I am leaning towards attending this one. Have the same situation with kids being out of school at that time.

Yea check with Alan...he'll be able to provide details on open sign-up, the number of slots they have filled versus open thus far. I believe that it is based on the number of instructors that they have set up for the event.

Just a quick update regarding the track event June 26th - 28th being sponsored by PCA at Watkins Glen, if you are interested in attending, please contact Alan Herod at this updated email address: [email protected]

He expressed his apologies for the previous DEChair email kicking back if anybody tried to contact him, and mentioned that there are still slots available. Thanks.
