My grandfather used to own a nice blue ElDorado, I'm thinking it was an 89, but I'm not sure. I recall being particularly impressed by the nice smoothe ding ding ding noise it would make when the driver wasn't wearing a seatbelt, or the headlights were left on, etc, since all I had ever heard before were the nasty buzzers on cheaper cars. While the chime on my Maxima is less offensive than the standard buzzer, I would really like to do a transplant and get that nice ding ding ding noise going on. So I have a few questions:

1) Do all modern Cadillacs have those nice chimes?

2) Are the chimes different among the various models?

3) Is the dinging function produced within the chime unit itself, or is it an audio signal being fed in from an outside source? In other words, can I just hook a Cadillac chime up to a constant 12v source and expect it to ding properly?

Thanks in advance for any replies.
