If I can get someone to host some pics for me, I will show what a Volant CAI looks like on a maggie V.

There are some challenges involved installing it, both related and unrelated to the snorkel.

Anyone out there to host a few pics?

Reed did you ever get that CD i sent you on that install.??

It was pretty easy to install it, the hardest part to me was making sure the gaskets where lined up, i used a little silicone, clear type.. just a small tab to keep gasket in place, then it went togethr easy..

Mean, you guys dont get so impatient.. they are coming, ther are working there asses off.. VOLANT WILL NOT SELL TO PUBLIC.. why is that so hard to understand.. they will send out there FINISHED PRODUct when it is completed.. if it is not right, and the way you guys are screaming now, you can imagnine if the product was all ****ed up and you were not happy.. you would go nutz..

They got someone close to volunteer there V so they could look at it,, the one i got was slightly too tall, be glad you did not get that one, it took more mods than you think..

Since they suck so bad, why are you waiting for it, why dont you guys spend that big bucks for the LPE.. in fact MOor has one right now for sale.. buy it then.. then you will not have to worry about a company that does not sell to the public, answering your phone calls. geesh... i try so hard to get you guys to understand, there customer service is for dealers not V owners.. or in fact just a car owner of any type.. your wasting your time and theres... let them get done with it, so you can go down to your local car performance shop and buy one..
Is there anything that is not clear here that i have said.

When I called them a few weeks ago to get availability and a vendor for the regular CAI, the lady was great. She answered all my questions and I was able to get the name and number of a local vendor and a week later I had my CAI. It came one gasket short. I called em back and two days later, I had two new gaskets. They did great by me!

Apparently, Blitzer was able to use a different snorkel than I did (custom?). If memory serves, Rick made a comment that the snorkel used in the current Volant CAI kit did not work, and, as such, you had to use the snorkel that came with the Maggie. Well, my experience was exactly that--I had to use the maggie snorkel, as it was impossible to use the one that comes with the kit. I'm eagerly awaiting the "new" snorkel that will come from Volant for the maggied Vs...

Initially, the thought was that it wasn't possible to get either snorkel to fit. As stated above, the Volant snorkel will NOT work (without customization that is) and the maggie snorkel definitely requires some "finesse" to get it in. It did work to a reasonable degree, but I just shook my head, as, in my mind, some mild changes to the system could result in a much better fit. :banghead:

Pic 1 (see black arrow) tries to show just how TIGHT the maggie snorkel fits against one of the fan screws. There was a *little* room when it was first installed (like a millimeter), but now, after, say, 200 miles, it appears that it's now touching the screw.

Pic 2 (see yellow line) is there to just say that, if you end up in a similar situation, to take great care when cutting/trimming the tube connecting the CAI to the snorkel. You will want some excess there, as the fit wasn't perfect (at least for me that is) & you will want some "wiggle" room.

Pic 3 (see white arrow) shows my biggest concern. There is VERY LITTLE room between the snorkel and the maggie pulley shown. When the CAI was first installed, it appeared there was enough room between the snorkel and the pulley. After ~200 miles, it appeared that, at some point, the snorkel rubbed against the pulley. I subsequently adjusted it a little bigger gap (I didn't think I could, but I managed to get a few more millimeters out of it), so I'm hopeful that it will not rub going forward, but the fit is TIGHT regardless.

Pic 4 (see red arrow) shows the mild customization that I had to do to the shroud. It won't sit down right. As such, I had to trim the shroud so that it would go down appropriately (so the hood would close properly).

Hope this helps and/or was interesting. :)

I had the same problem with stock Mag snorkle and straight hose to MAF sensor, under high torque I found it had pulled away from the MAF, so I bought a hump hose. Seems like I saw one on here a bit cheaper.

Looks great Luna..

Hey look, call Volant back, tell then the shortest tube works, they sent me two and i sent the longest tube back as it was the one that would not fit... they know the size.. ASK for JOE, he knows me, tell him the short tube is the one that will fit perfect with the maggie and it has the indent cut into it just like the maggie tube so it will clear the pulleys.. The Volant tube to me seems to be a little thicker and keeps quite cooler than the stock tube, when i used my meter to check ait temp, it was 7 degrees cooler going thru the intake at 2850rpm... at higher God knnly knows, but i imagnine it is really cooler..

It is really quite also.. Im telling you guys, VOLANT is a great comapny and they have good ppl.. they have treated me so well.. They are just swamped right now with production cycles, they have 13 different CAI's they are trying to scramble making to get to the customers, us. So please, cut them little slack and i promie you will be pleased when you do get yours..
