Road Racing - You may recall I found a steal on some replica rims that fit our V coupes on all for corners for $99 apiece. Only problem was they were heavy as shit, 28 pounds. I used a set for drag tires but never got a chance to go road racing last year. But this year I'm committed. Started with ordering tires:

Continental Sportcups 275/35/18 and paid $70 apiece shipped. Each has 80% tread life and 2 actually look like they were never hot lapped.

For rims I went with Miro's. These certainly aren't the lightest wheel or the most expensive but they work for my needs.

Miro Type 112's, 18x9.5, +40mm offset and 6.82" backspacing. You can get these by linking through befrugal.com to AutoAnything and then using the 20% OFF code. You'll net these down to $725ish all in. I found conflicting information everywhere on the weight of these rims from a low of 21 pounds to a high of 24 pounds. I weighed them and they're 22.5pounds. Not bad for a wheel that cost $180 apiece. Compare that to the Rotary Forged Nurburgrings @ $288 each and 21 pounds. Discount Tire did a great job of mounting these. Not a scratch.

Drag Racing - For wheels I cheaped out again. Discount Tire price matched Tread Depot on a set of Bravado Tribute wheels, 18x10" for $153 apiece. They weigh in at 23.8lbs. so they're lighter then my old replicas. For tires I've always been a fan of M&H racemasters, but I read a few posts of guys having good luck with the Hoosiers. So I pulled the trigger:

I went with 315/30/18 size off ebay for $492 a set. Funny that these actually weigh more than the wheels. Tire Rack lists them at 24 pounds. But my scale showed 24.6 pounds.

Finally I got my numbers as well. 77v, doubt anyone else will have that one. LOL

Busy day today.

1) Changed rear diff fluid. Went with Mobil1 and additive. Never pay a dealer $160 for this. Easiest fluid change ever!
2) Painted the rotor hats, couldn't take the rust anymore.
3) Installed my V2V center splitter. Primed for now, painting them black tomorrow. APR splitter ordered, 2 week back order.
4) Test fit my track wheels to ensure that everything works/clears....it did.
5) Went for a test drive, neighbors loved it. Of course I had my numbers on.
6) Installed my custom Cadillac center caps on my track wheels.

where did you get those center caps?
LOVE my new TSW wheels, but absolutely HATE the stock center caps! That got me working on replacements. I found center caps that fit on ebay for only $13 a set. They came from Spain so it took two weeks to get them. I ordered the 66-68mm set which fits the best. See link below:

Alloy Wheel Centre Decal Caps 65mm 68mm Universal Black Audi VW Ford BMW Seat | eBay

Then set off to find a custom, domed decal to fit. These come from 3Dcarsticker. This company is out of the Ukraine, which is probably why they have no problem with violating copywrite laws. Now that I had the center caps I could measure the face to ensure the decal would fit. It's 66mm with a little lip around it to center the decal. These took 18 days to arrive and $18 a set. I bought another set to use when my track TSW's arrive (18's). I'll use the TSW cap without the TSW decal. See link below:

Online shop 3D wheel center caps

I went with black background and the V logo. Now that I have them installed, I might have gone carbon fiber background with a red Cadillac crest logo, or even the new logo. I still like them though as they're better than what I had.

Update: I test fit my wheels and had trouble torquing the wheels properly on Saturday. The lug nuts kept "chattering" and after a test drive needed to be re-torqued. Turns out I had conical lug nuts (like most wheels require) and I needed ball seat. I found a set of open ended ball seat lug nuts in our size on ebay for $20, which came today. Mounted everything up and went for the best test drive I've had in 2 years!

***Advice for first time racers, mount everything up way in advance so you have time to solve any issues way before your track day.*** Can't tell you how many guys I've seen at the track with lug nuts that won't fit their drag wheels (guilty) or a car you can't get a jack under with your race setup on (been there too).

Looks like the weather Gods have smiled down upon us racers with the forecast for Sat 57* and Sun 63*. Only 26 cars in my run group so plenty of room and up to 6 hours track time each day. Can't Vuckin' wait!

I'm surprised those wheels called for ball seat lug nuts. I tend to think of 5x120 as being primarily a BMW bolt pattern, and I thought they were conical seat. Miro's website says they should be conical in your size. (This wouldn't be the first time I've seen a manufacturer's website not match reality!)

Hope you're having fun out there on track!

Having an awesome time! Weather perfect, track perfect! 2 sessions so far and I'm getting the car and me dialed in. Contis seem to like starting at 32 psi and peaking around 38 psi. Second session I do have the dreaded rear diff temp warning. Run 8 to 10 laps and get the warning. Definitely getting a diff cooler after this.

I actually found the Continentals liked pressures lower than that, in the 34-35psi hot range.
