Road Racing - You may recall I found a steal on some replica rims that fit our V coupes on all for corners for $99 apiece. Only problem was they were heavy as shit, 28 pounds. I used a set for drag tires but never got a chance to go road racing last year. But this year I'm committed. Started with ordering tires:
Continental Sportcups 275/35/18 and paid $70 apiece shipped. Each has 80% tread life and 2 actually look like they were never hot lapped.
For rims I went with Miro's. These certainly aren't the lightest wheel or the most expensive but they work for my needs.
Miro Type 112's, 18x9.5, +40mm offset and 6.82" backspacing. You can get these by linking through befrugal.com to AutoAnything and then using the 20% OFF code. You'll net these down to $725ish all in. I found conflicting information everywhere on the weight of these rims from a low of 21 pounds to a high of 24 pounds. I weighed them and they're 22.5pounds. Not bad for a wheel that cost $180 apiece. Compare that to the Rotary Forged Nurburgrings @ $288 each and 21 pounds. Discount Tire did a great job of mounting these. Not a scratch.
Drag Racing - For wheels I cheaped out again. Discount Tire price matched Tread Depot on a set of Bravado Tribute wheels, 18x10" for $153 apiece. They weigh in at 23.8lbs. so they're lighter then my old replicas. For tires I've always been a fan of M&H racemasters, but I read a few posts of guys having good luck with the Hoosiers. So I pulled the trigger:
I went with 315/30/18 size off ebay for $492 a set. Funny that these actually weigh more than the wheels. Tire Rack lists them at 24 pounds. But my scale showed 24.6 pounds.
Finally I got my numbers as well. 77v, doubt anyone else will have that one. LOL
