When I purchased my 09 Used, I read a lot of information on how poor the Security System is and how easy it is to Steal.
Any way, I had a Viper Alarm installed tied in with the factory Alarm. I liked the Smart Start feature from the IPhone as well as other features. I had them connect the mirrors to fold when the alarm auto arms itself, and the open when you disarm the alarm.
Story:
Wife took my truck to Great Adventure over the summer, she did not tell me she was taking the struck. At about 1:30PM I get an alert on my IPhone that the Alarm was triggered. I called my wife, that's when she told me she took the truck because she needed more room and she set the alarm off by accident.
About 1 hour later, I get another alert the Alarm is going off. I tried calling my wife, no answer. Did not think about it any more. Plot thickens... My neice lost her iPhone at the park, she swears she put it in the glove box... We tracked the phone to a house in NJ, after calling the Police and Locking the phone with a message that phone was stoled and tracked, we call the phone and a lady answeres and said her son found it in the diner :tisk:. Arrangements are made to return the phone.
2 days later, I go to get into the truck and notice the Key Cylinder is pushed in, just floating in the handle. Now it all makes sence!!! :suspect:
Wife went to truck to have lunch. Tripped alarm.
Neice put phone in glove box.
Everyone went back to the park.
Some knucklehead punched in the Drivers Lock Cylinder..... ( Note: If you turn the cylinder with ANY key while it is floating in the handle, it WILL shut off the factory Alarm, which it did, however, the knucklehead did not know there was another alarm on the truck. Once he opened the door, the alarm tripped, no time to take the truck, the rear seats, or anything else, just open the glove box and take the phone. Horn blaring.... not knowing what was gong on, they left.
Thank You Movin On Sound for the Viper System!!! It save a $100K truck.
It is that easy to break in to a Escalade. Punch in the lock cylinder, put any key in the cylinder and unlock the door. From there who knows, there in....
I had the dealership replace the Driver Door Handle with a Rear door handle. Yes, I know, what happens if the battery goes dead..... Same thing you do if keys are locked in car and you have no second set. :yup:
