VIN - 1G6DM577340110541

Hello, long time reader, first time member/poster. I came across a 2004 3.6L CTS with a little under 35,000 miles on it. It seems to be in perfect condition and the owner says so as well. But it is selling for next to nothing, seriously..

Whats the catch you ask? The owner is in Scotland supposedly and the car is the US. She just finished a divorce and moved to Scotland and is selling the car for dirt cheap because she wants nothing to do with it anymore...

What further steps should I take to find out this is legitimate?

Here are some pictures. http://s190.photobucket.com/albums/z222/caddycts2004/

I'd appreciate any help you guys can offer.

Google the seller's phone number to see if other cars are for sale with same phone number.

I can almost guarantee you that she will want one of the following:

money only via Western Union.
money sent to a friend of hers.
she will also send you a check asking you to cash it for her and send her a few thousand back to her, or some variation of this scam.

Lastly, google SCAMS. Too many out there, many of them from overseas where you cannot sue.

I checked it out and the VIN report looks great.

Not sure how or if I can post the report but one thing did confuse me:
12/05/2003 n- Title and registration were issued with First owner in TX
06/03/2007 - Offered for Sale in Dealer Inventory
06/08/2007 - Sold
06/16/2007 - Offered for Sale in Dealer Inventory
06/19/2007 - Sold

Not sure why the repeated change in hands there...any ideas?

I guess I will contact her and keep you updated on how it progresses.

Sounds shady to me. Not worth the risk. Only buy cars you can see in person.
I hate to be a dick, but trust nobody.

I bought an airplane one time from a pissed off wife that had been dumped and divorced but had a good lawyer. She sold it to me and a friend for next to nothing because she wanted to drive her ex nuts and it worked. The guy had left the country so we weren't too worried about retribution. There's something to be said for having quick available cash.

Nobody "works" for a dealer. They're co-conspirators.
