and Zack unfortunately. :annoyed: (sorry Jesda :sneaky: )

Looks like the Jetta is grown up, 7 incles longer with a new 5 cyl. inline engine, 6 airbags, 6 speed tiptronic tranny, electromagnetic steering, and a large trunk at 16 cu. ft.

Not bad....

Theyre nice, styling cues taken from my Phaeton, as does the Passat :sneaky:

I prefer it much over the old Bora, the Chrmoe grille surround looks great too. Much classier alternative to the Golf

I see a lot of the new Jettas on the street now. Many don't seem to like the chrome on the grille. Someone here once referred to it as looking like a Hitler mustache. :shhh:
Man, that thing is a new take on ugly. There's so many bizarre and out of place styling touches front and rear. The profile is too fat for a small car. Looks spacious. Amazing how far the Jetta has come along. Its too far in some ways and not far enough in others.

Now that you mention it, it does seem like the Rear end looks like a Corolla. Not much for color selection.

Get a load of what they say under the pic of the 2.5 engine.......

Wow. It looks like Banana Republic stores took over the color scheme. A black, two greys and a red. Sheesh. I guess silver is the only color that will mask the garish chrome grille.

The Jetta's upbeat and lighthearted personality has succumbed to black suits and groupthink.

Old Jettas for comparison:

I almost bought one just like the above. Online reviews kept me from going for it. The ride quality was excellent and steering/braking/handling were superb for its class. Unfortunately, reliability looked shakey.

A friend of mine owned one that looked just like this:

Ya, I almost bought one of those "Treks" in 1997. Anything made in Mexico seems to have a shakey rep.
I don't mind the look of the old ones. They're just average, boring cars... The new ones are downright fugly.
Ill be honest, I think the new Jetta and Passat do look a little bulbous and out of proportion... they also sit a little bit too high, HOWEVER, I applaud for VW/AUDI for taking alot of what makes the Audi cars so special and trickling some of the neatest features and the family resemblance down to even the cheapest of their vehicles. Its a real step in the right direction.

Yup, which is why you can buy a £18000 passat that looks much like my £80000 Phaeton........

I think its a great idea.......
