Sorry to hear about your truck..... but FYI..... In Baltimore we have a huge problem with rims being stolen. Yes lug locks help, but if you have professional rim thieves lurking then locks are a small thing. Locks are easily removed. I knew a guy who was a customer at our dealership who used to steal rims. He had a key for damn near any kind of lock, and if he didnt then he could break the lock off. Spline drive locks are the easiest to remove. We have bought cars with rims from the auction alot and had to break the locks to remove the wheels. The best deterant is an alarm with the motion sensor set to high sensitivity. I have also heard that they are coming out with wheel alarms.

That really does suck. I know the feeling well. Since I own my escalade I have had 3/4 of the truck heavy keyed (Halloween Night) and just over this past weekend had the gold leaf center caps stolen while my wife and I were in Philadelphia at a couples club.

Makes you wonder why people do the things they do. Wheel locks only make the steal job alittle harder. They make locking lug nut removers that work VERY well, just alittle noisy. Too bad you didn't hear it.

Hope you get some satisfaction........a police report and insurance claim should get them replaced.
GOOD LUCK!!! :alchi:

Damn man, that really really sucks and not to make you feel bad or anything but I agree on an AFTERMARKET alarm with a motion sensor / vibration sensor AND wheel locks on all of them (added assurance, in a way - not ALL of the scumbags carry a master selection of wheel lock keys).

After reading this, I think I am gonna go ahead and wire up the proximity sensor into my alarm which already has a vibration sensor and not to mention a paging device so I will hear it inside the house too.

Maybe you should consider these options before considering another set of wheels... but yeah, I hope that the scumbag gets runover by a semi or another SUV falls on his leg or arm or head and chops it off when he is trying to steal again - the dirty son of a b***ch. Sorry but I can't stand thieves who steal from hard working, honest people. :gun2:

BTW, I just thought I would let you guys know that even more better is a TILT SENSOR - most of them are made to be universal so it would work with almost any alarm system. This can help prevent wheel theft considering they do have to lift your truck somehow. I suggest you guys with high dollar wheels invest in something like this (I am about to). Basically it registers the tilt angle after you shut off the truck and / or turn the alarm on. It then monitors for tilting and triggers the alarm depending on high much tilt you adjust it for. Something to consider...

I would imagine that this wired into some sort of universal paging system as well would be great.

I've got a viper 791, I am going to add the extra sensors to it for piece of mind, I have the pager remote and the range is awesome, I can have the ladey out in a parkin lot in the far back, be in walmart checkout line, hit the start button and she starts right up. It's got pretty good sensors already but I read I can add up to 3 more things I believe.

Look into it for sure.

I still with ya the best of luck with finding them or the scumbags gettin caught.

Let us know if your insurance covered it as well. I'm wondering if I go to my agent if I can get extra coverage for my system and rims. Just in case the ole' viper doesnt do what it is supposted to.

Keep us updated!!

Keith, I use to be a A/V & Security installer and I can tell you that the Viper 791 is an outstanding alarm and I have yet to see one that failed with PROPER installation. The Tilt sensor should work great with it (The DEI 507M is a great tilt sensor) and if you want to go the extra mile, you can get the proxy sensor too (it will help if they cut your glass out and get in or something that the vibration sensor cannot pick up and yeah I have seen cases where they cut the glass and the angry owner could not figure out why the alarm did not go off).

I suggest to everyone with some aftermarket stuff, NEVER OVERLOOK your vehicles security system - just when you think it is okay - those lil' roaches come out of their hole to take your hard earned stuff.

Thanks!

Hey can you send me a PM with maybe the part #'s for those add-on's I have a friend who works at a audio/alarm/car starter store who is an installer, he's got on with the dei computer and changed some settings a few times for me, I'll have him install those add-on's for me. I also want to change the regular blue dot light that blinks with a night rider looking one but blue. hehe

Thanks again!

Any news with the rim theift ??

Hey here are those part numbers for the devices ...

Tilt Sensor - 507M
Proximity Sensor - 508D

Both are made by Directed Electronics and I know alot of installers who have used these models and swear by these models only! Do not use those off brand el cheapo sensors btw, its like buying a hand gun that you do not know if it works and want to wait until you need to use it to see if ti does work lol.

Once installed, the procedure is simple - just try to be a thief and quietly jack your vehicle - it should go off even before you get the wheel all the way off the ground. Now the Proxy sensor, you can adjust to your liking, ie. you can have it set so that the person has to be inside or head thru the window or leaning against the vehicle, its your choice.

Do not set the proxy so that when someone is standing near close to the vehicle it goes off - it would become annoying in a parking lot lol.

Good luck guys and let's combat the scumbags without illegal methods (ie. chop their head off, etc. or shoot em in the nuts lol)

Thanks man!

I will be ordering them, the directed ones, not the cheap ones.

Damn man, someone with a CTS here got their wheels jacked a few days ago. That's why I'll never buy any super flashy or the larger ones that all the minorities want.
Awesome. All the minorities, huh? You don't target the low-lives or hoodlums but the minorities? C'monnnnn You can't be serious. Oh well, I guess stupidity runs rampant in the US, so it's just something we should accept right? I. Don't. Think. So. Think about what you said and figure out why it's wrong...

Yes, stupidity DOES run rampant in the US......but I'm not American. Ok, I guess I was slightly stereotyping, but you can't deny it that certain ethnic groups like the 22 and up wheel category better than others.

... ROFL. YAY! Certain Ethnic Groups like 22 and up wheels? Stereotyping is the politically correct term for racism. Rather than call the hoodlums who steal other people's stuff "Hoodlums" you'd rather make comments about their race. Then you back it up with "slightly stereotyping"? Sheesh. You didn't stereotype... you implied that minorities are thieves and that they steal rims that they like....

^^^ Oh boy I see where this is going...I wouldn't touch that with a 10 meter cattle prod...

ANYWAY, that truly sucks. Never had those kind of problems myself but I'm sure getting an anti-theft education with all the horror stories here. My '07 ESV (which I bought NEW last month) came with 18s and when I asked for 22s the dealer suggested that I check eBay or craigslist (I kid you not) since they just had 24 SETS stolen. Unreal...

Looks like Jimmy Jammers and a good alarm are in order; had a Viper with integrated remote start on my Viper (SRT-10) quad-cab truck and liked it, sounds like I need to something quick!
