It's so damned hot, 93 degrees, sunny and muggy! I'm at work now, all three garage doors are open, the breeze is blowing thru, I'm stuck in this office, my little fan's a blowin' but it's not making a difference. I can't wait to get home to my A/C! I'm so jealous of all those out there who work in a nice air conditioned office!

Sometimes summer isn't always so hot. Excuse the pun.

93? Sounds like March here! We've already had a week straight of hundred degree + days...

The low humidity is why I'll never leave the desert Southwest. Humid heat makes me physically ill. Without humidity, I can be very happy at 100+.

Yeah, no kidding. I've been in Florida in 100* heat, and Arizona in 100* heat. Guess what was much more bearable? Az by a long shot! In Florida, it got to the point where I was having to take 2-3 cold showers a day just to stay cool! Would not wanna live in FL, especially near the coastline!

I think I do better in shitty heat than I do in bitter cold though. I was however born and raised in South Texas.

Tell you what, the tables turn from December to March~!

gdwriter...where IS Willamette valley? I go up to John Day every october for a week, and usually during Memorial day...and whenever else we get an itch for the ranch. I'm halfway thinking about moving up to the Hood River area...and Cannon Beach was an amazing weekend.

Ya know, the heat doesn't me bother me so much...its the fact that everything is so damned HOT! Get in your car, burn the crap out of yourself sitting down on the seat, then burn the crap out of yourself buckling the seatbelt, then burn the crap out of yourself putting your arm in the window then burn the crap out of yourself holding the steering wheel then burn the crap out of yourself rowing gears. THAT'S what sucks. And when you have to fix something in the sun, your tools get to f'ing hot to pick up...that sucks.

You wouldnt know a sweaty miserable work day if it bit you in your ass and gave you rabies.

Living in Florida humidity is probably worse than having an STD. I sweat ALL day in a non-ventilated warehouse.No fans. When i am fortunate enough to go on a delivery(usually once a day for 3 or 4 hours), i drive at 55mph in a 65mph zone just to take as long as i possibly can.

I bitch and moan,but i really do like it. Its really getting me in shape. Water+sweating+moving heavy stuff = :bouncy:

Wow, I'm surprised nobody noticed the reference in my thread title.

"Ventilator Blues" is the name of a Rolling Stones song....an excellent song actually, it doesn't get enough respect or playtime. Basically, it was written for "Exile On Main Street" and that entire album was recorded in the basement of Keith Richards' villa in the French Riviera in the summer of '71. Now as you can surely imagine, it's gonna get hot in the french riviera in the middle of summer, and it's even worse when you're in a murky, muggy, dank basement and the only ventilation is a little fan in the little window at the top of the wall. Hence the title, it's about the fan in the window.

I love cold weather. I was born in Thailand and raised in the midwest, so that makes no sense.

Its like springtime here in Spokane WA. There's a reason why I come to the northwest 1-3 times a year in the summer.

Only job I ever had where I was inside with AC was last year at Advance.

I now work in an aircraft hanger.... we've got old exhaust fans on the roof, thats about it.... bugs, heat, rain... we get it all.

Then on top of the heat from the weather you can climb in the small aft equipment bay and work on the APU, which is really hot.... thats when it gets fun.

Actually, I live in Independence, which is about 15 miles SW of Salem, and I work in Corvallis. Both are in the middle of the Willamette Valley, which stretches from Eugene to Portland between the Coast Range and the Cascades.

It's a great location; I'm about an hour from Portland (90 minutes to PDX), an hour to the Coast at Lincoln City, and about 2-2 1/2 hours to Mt. Hood. Cannon Beach is also probably 2 hours away, but worth the drive. Hood River is in a beautiful part of the Columbia River Gorge. Haven't been to John Day, but I understand it's pretty isolated out there.

We'll get maybe a week or two of really hot days during the summer (one of the reasons I have central air at home; at lot of houses here don't), but it's not too bad. And the rest of the summer is beautiful. And now that I have working A/C in Betty again, I can drive her comfortably whenever I want.

Ha, yea. Pretty isolated. I GUESS you could say that.

We're not actually IN John day, but up north of there. The ranch is on the middle fork of the John Day river, above Long Creek and a little below Ukiah. The population of the area triples during hunting season and its still tough to find anyone, anywhere...or anything that may be open. It gets DAMN hot out there though. Last season, middle of October, it was in the eighties. Summertime is hell and wintertime is incredible snow. Great country, it is.

These are all views of different parts of the ranch. Three mountain peaks, six miles of river and around five thousand acres. My favorite place in the world.

Don't feel too bad, I work in the Fedex warehouse where there is about zero airflow.

It's also due to be about 96 degrees here...
