V6 Surging at ~ 1500 RPM

Just today, I noticed the 3.6 V6 surging when poking around town at different speeds, but usually only when the engine was turning around 1500 RPM. The tach would bounce between 1300-1700. Not sure if it was trans hunting or the engine. I'll have to try locking it in a gear tomorrow and see if the problem persists. I usually use Shell or Speedway gas, but this current tank is from a Shell station I don't usually visit. I currently have a bit under 15K miles on the car.

Anyone else experience anything like this?

I have a V8 that does a similar thing. At around 60mph, when in 5th gear and hovering around 2k rpm, it has an uneven pitch that gives a slight surge and pushback of about 100 rpms. It is super annoying, but in this case not really anything anyone can do about it. I just optioned to ignore it.

Kind of like I ignore the squeeky roof,
The vibration in the driverside door when the bass is high on the stereo,
The poorly designed rear seatbelts that rattle ever 5 seconds against plastic
The whole back seat, which vibrates back and forth at highway speeds
And the scraping rotors (since 500 miles on each set!). The brake system is way to soft.
It's your transmission.
Take it to the dealer and they will reprogram the ECM.
It will stop the torque converter from locking up until higher speeds.

donjumpsuit: Have the dealer install the stop buttons that they use on the cars to keep the metal seat belt insert from sliding down the seat belt. Have always wondered why they did not put them on the SRX. It makes it much easier to find the seat belt when you are a rear seat passenger. Did it on our '04 but have not on the '05

As for the seat, are you talking about the 2nd or 3rd seat? I do not reacall a probem with either but I keep the 3rd seat closed down.
I did solve the problem with leaving the seats down.

And great idea about the buttons, i should have put two and two together. I am sure I can install the button myself!

Would driving it with the trans in sport mode do the same thing?
