I have a couple of related (sort of) questions:

1. Has anyone with a CTS-V noticed the rubbery shifter? There are numerous upgrades for camaro/vettes. I'd like a more direct and positive feel. Does anyone else feel the same? Has anyone heard about someone coming out with a better shifter?

2. During hard acceleration and speed shifting my throttle does not return quickly - let off on the gas and rev's stay high. It seems like the throttle by wire is slow. It seems like it should snap back. Anyone experience this? I used to be able to fix this kind of thing with a stiffer spring.

On point (1) please remember that the less isolation in the linkage, the more NVH gets to your backside, hands, etc. Aftermarket bits are going to be a tradeoff.

Point (2) is probably a smog issue - this used to be done with a mechanical shock absorber called a dashpot that slowed the closing of the throttle, it's done through software now.

I thought I saw that someone installed a vette Hurst short throw shifter in a V, or maybe I didn't. I have the Hurst in my vette and it definitely has a shorter throw with less rubbery feel, but some folks find it too stiff, even with the soft springs.

Thanks for the replies. The shifter needs a fix for an enthusiast. I'll gladly sacrafice the isolation for a little feedback and positive engagement. I had a Richmond six speed with a Long's shifter in my last car that was much more precise. I do think the late throttle response will be an issue on the track. It feels unsafe/disconnected to me. I'll report after a weekend at Road America this week.

I was going to attempt to put a Hurst in. I will let you know next week some time after it gets up on the rack since that was one of the first mods I had planned on doing.

I'll ask the guy about the throttle as well, see if it's a computer thing that can be removed or what.
