Our nephew, stationed at Annapolis, recently engaged in training exercises in the Atlantic ocean. He is normally in law enforcement (drugs & human traffic) but also trains in search and rescue. Didn't get a pic, but one of those guys goes out of the chopper to boat or ground with a dog strapped to him. These guys got balls.

My son-in-law is a Coastie. He is the guy in the Search and Rescue chopper who handles the cable/winch. He lowers the rescue swimmer into the water. Amazing what these guys and gals do under the absolute worst of conditions and weather. Amazing. I'm with you, my hat's off to them.

my nephew is the guy with ropes on the boat hauling in the swimmer or the basket. Watching it is like watching a choreographed dance.
