We are new owners of a 2017 CTS Premium Luxury. The car has 98% of the features we wanted, but it was not originally built with the Driver Assist Option which includes Adaptive Cruise and Forward & Rear Automatic Braking which were nice-to-have features but not an absolute requirement for us.

Looking from the outside, it appears that this car may already contain most or all of the hardware elements needed to enable these additional Driver Assist features and adding the option may require nothing more than a software features upgrade. I suspect the reality of adding these option features may be more complicated than I'm assuming, but I'll ask the question now while this car is still new to us.

Has anyone accomplished this feature upgrade, or investigated thoroughly enough to know the reality and comment on whether it's possible?

And it could be that while this upgrade is technically possible, it's cost-prohibitive. I'll ask the technical feasibility question first, and deal with the cost issue 2nd if I ever get to that point. Thx

I suspect it is very cost prohibitive. For one thing you would need a new grill that contains the adaptive radar sensor.
Yeah, I just read in the owners manual that the front radar sensor max detection range is doubled when the car has adaptive cruise, so that seems to confirm your comment about needing replacement of the front grill w/the correct radar sensor for adaptive cruise update.
Strike One...

Thx

So much is tied into CUE and computers, that an upgrade like this is more than parts.

Some who have inquired about upgrades like this, have posted that Cadillac doesn't do
those kind of upgrades.

I doubt it's economically feasible, it would probably better to trade it in on a CTS or CT6. I just bought a Yukon Denali and it's my first vehicle with adaptive cruise and I am in love with it. I won't buy another new car without it.

It would be cheaper (and easier) to buy another car with the features you want. Obtaining the hardware isn't the main obstacle; it's the embedded firmware. GM will not re-program your car to any other configuration than the as-built condition.
