Just spoke with my dealer who had been digging for information over the last few days. According to his source, all the undelivered DEs were sent to Michigan (someone here had seen that on Vin View for theirs) and are receiving the Super Cruise and Surround Vision updates there before being shipped to customers. He wasn't sure exactly why they went to Michigan, but now that the update is out, the hope is that it won't be too long before they start making their way to customers.

Thanks for posting/updating this information, been very frustrating not knowing the reasons behind the delays.

Wait! Is that the secret stash of unsold Cadillacs that are being sold at 50% off MSRP all the pop up ads keep telling me about?!?
The black one is a debut edition. The red one is a awd sport.

Interesting. I drive past the Penske building at least 3X a week. They used to build Ford GT’s there. Might check it out.

Is it just me, but is shipping LYRIQs from KY to MI for updates logistical insanity???

Yeah, you'd think the local dealers could do this. Granted not a great process right now at 1-2 days to load and setup, but would still seem better than moving cars across the country. They really need to get a handle on OTA sooner vs. later.

It's easier to manage a whole lot of vehicles in one location at the same time than to manage a whole lot of vehicles in different locations at different times.
At Penske they have the techs and equipment to push the updates and resolve technical issues in a timely fashion that may take dealerships longer to diagnose. That's my understanding on why GM may choose this rout.

Agreed, but if it really takes 1-2 days for the update, they'd need a lot of equipment to take care of these timely - if more involved than just an USB stick. In that case, having the dealers do it (with a detailed process), makes more sense from a time standpoint. And the dealers still need to address the already delivered Lyriqs anyway - as those customers won't be going to Penske.
