Please take a before and after pics to see if it's worth the trouble of removing the front grille, both side mirrors(which means the interior door moulding, speaker, trim and wires) and the rear hatch trim(this should be easy). Hopefully it will not result to door rattles, wind buffeting, speaker crackle and vent leaks with the same result. I was thinking it was just a software update.

Are they going to replace the current camera's with the exact same resolution cameras? If so, this repair will do absolutely nothing except maybe risking damage to your Escalade. If GM revised the cameras, then you should be good to go, but there should also be a software update in order for the screen image to improve as well.

Don't know if the camera has different resolution, and the dealer didn't know if it included a software update or not, just that they are calling to replace all 4 cameras. I'm not worried about it, it's got to be better than what I'm dealing with now, backing up at night I have to solely use my side mirrors and roll the window down since my windows are tinted. I'm doing it, it's got to be an improvement.

Subject: Driver Information Surround Vision Camera Poor Image Quality In Low Light Conditions (Replace Cameras)

Models: 2015 Cadillac Escalade Models
With Surround Vision (RPO UVH)
With 2015 Mid-Year (RPO AVF)
Without 2nd Design Camera (RPO AD0)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/ConcernSome customers may comment on the driver's information surround vision camera image quality being poor in low light conditions.

Updated cameras have been released which improve this low light condition

Recommendation/InstructionsReplace all 4 driver's information surround cameras for this condition: front grille, both side mirrors, and rear liftgate.

After all 4 cameras are replaced, perform the video processing control module calibration procedure.

Refer to the Video Processing Control Module Calibration document in SI.

Note: For additional information on performing the video processing control module calibration procedure, refer to the January 2015 Emerging Issues broadcast / Course # 10215.001D.

Programming these is available for technicians thru online monthly broadcasts as per directions.

----------

This is a large and time consuming job.

Well I mainly care about the resolution, if it's blurry it doesn't matter how bright it is. I really hope the resolution went way up because it is a very poor resolution in this age of tech. TVs array 4K. Whenever the camera get dirty the blur just increases

I have what may be a dumb question. I do not seem to have a "front" camera on my 2015i. When I go from reverse to forward there is a black area on the screen on the front of the image of my car. I have images on both sides and the rear but not the front. I assumed this was normal. Do I have a nonfunctioning front camera?

That's not normal. Take the car in and give them the TSB #PIT5376 and tell them you are having difficulty seeing anything day or night.

I have a surround camera in my 2013 Range Rover sport and I can put a quick button in the screen but once it's 20 mph it's no accessible. But if you turn it ON from the get go, you can keep it ON at any speed.
