I couldn’t get in my car tonight after work lol. I remote started it, went up to the handle pushed the button and nothing, tried a different handle nothing. Then I tried the key fob lights flashed but nothing unlocked. I also tried to turn the car off with the remote and nothing. Oddly enough the tailgate worked when I pushed the button on the tailgate. I ended up removing the right cap on the door handle and using my manual key but very strange. Anyone have any idea what could have caused this?

Did it happen to be raining? My ‘17 has done this three times in the last two and half years, it was raining all three times. The app allowed Me to open then door and then when I tried to start the car, I got a “keyfob not found“ error. I put the key fob in the center console and everything was fine. The key fob battery was replaced and this happened once after replacement. Very random and very strange

Hope this helps

Hi
It was raining and very windy. Funny part is when I got in the car everything worked fine. It’s very strange, I had a Bmw that the rain would affect the handle but there was no physical button, I donno, interesting bout the weather for us though
Another reason to go to your dealer ASAP to scan for hidden codes. You had an issue with the message for your transmission just the other day, which was since the dealer worked on it and you do not know what code was set. Now another issue. Wondering about the state of charge of your battery. Is it the original battery? This is a four year old car which you do not know it's history. You can request the history from your dealer, if you do not have it. They would at least have the history for repairs in GM shops.

What are your daily driving habits? How long are the trips?
Hi
They’ve already replaced the battery as part of the other

issues lol. The car was bought new at the dealership and traded there. It’s all so strange to me. I can’t go with the covid but I do email a running list. It’s frustrating bc I traded my old SRX for fear it would start giving problems lol. This car is like possessed thank god for warranty but it does ruin the fact that I have a new car, I dread every time wondering what’s next. I drive about 20 miles a day no huge trips. Battery 14.8 while driving. I’m just afraid they won’t ever fix it lol it’s been 2 months. Wonder if I’m better considering a trade? I was waiting for your reply! I’m brian

Your trips are quite adequate to keep your battery fully charged. I am assuming they replaced the battery with the proper AGM battery. 14.8 while driving is a good indicator of the health of your charging system. Does your start/stop work dependably. Many hate start/stop, but it is a good indicator of the state of charge and health of your battery. If the start/stop does not engage dependably, your battery is not holding a charge.
I feel your pain. My XT5 has had annoying issues as well. This issue locking you out of the car happened to my wife repeatedly. Batteries and such were all changed and fine. After two visits the second time they installed some update and it's been good for about 6 months now. My first XT5 would lock the emerge brake and you had to pull the battery to get it to disengage. They swapped out that XT5 cause after several visits they couldn't stop it from happening. Annoying issues that a Caddy just shouldn't have.

Do you pay for the app? The app used to be free when I had my SRX and now that I got in to the XT5, Onstar wants like 8 bucks a month or something to be able to use the app....

Yup start stop works great- everything seems to work great. Tonight I got service transmission again and my memory function buttons were cleared and the DIC said driver 2 but it was already programmed. Odd

App probably would have worked but phone was in car

Yea I haven’t had good luck, I can’t get the service transmission to go away after several visits- I dread what’s next every time I get In lol

The only way you will find what is going wrong is by visiting your dealer to see what code(s) were set this time. Do not simply assume it is more of the same as last time.

Yup def will do I’ve been keeping them up to date. I just don’t know what else it could possibly be it’s frustrating and onstar says everything is ok (although I know GM scans are better) it’s just so frustrating. I’m a nurse and it would be like a disease that clinically won’t go away ugh

Thank you so much, it’s so often just a job that I forget how much I risk. Thank you as well for all of your help with my issues, after a long work day I’d love to just get in my car, relax and drive lol. Thank you again for your kind words, remember 60% alcohol sanitizer and wash till your hands are raw!

I don’t pay for the app, at least yet. The basic “key fob” features are included for 5 years at no cost. The app is nice for remote start in the winter, since I can start the car from my office and then it’s warmed up when I get to it.

Hmmmm....I'll have to play a game of "call Onstar and get a different rep to give me a different answer" - the last rep told me that the basic app functions were free for my SRX, but not on the XT5 and it would be 7.95 per month for the app....

yes, you might want to talk to someone else, this is from the onstar website:

Original Basic Plan
The service is free for five years and includes the following services: Keyfob services that enable owners to remotely start, lock/unlock doors, as well as activate the horn and lights from the myChevrolet, myBuick, myGMC or myCadillac or OnStarRemoteLink app.
