Unable to adjust clock--2008 STS wi Navigation

The clock adjust screen will come up after touching and holding for a couple seconds the clock area on the screen but none of the adjusting "buttons" are functional.

This is happening after an issue last evening where the car would not start until after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery.

Even then I had to put the keyless start switch in accessory mode first and then was able to start the car.

Any ideas on the clock adjust issue as well as what may have caused the "no start" issue. Thanks in advance for any help.

I have seen it on the dealers screen, but it is a different bulletin number. All I saw was bits and pieces as the shop foreman scrolled up and down the screen. Much of it was screen shots that were related to non-STS nav radios. I haven't read it so I can't speak to what the content actually is. All I can really confirm is that it was dated November 15, 2019.

Hi guys,

last weekend I unintentionally looked at the upper right corner of my navigation screen and I could not believe what I saw:

575073

Without changing anything I can see the time and can now adjust it. Since I got the car in February this year, it always displayed "--:--"
This miracle happened in Germany.

Hope you get your clocks working again soon.

Cheers!

...a little bit German...
@moppes :

Hello,

There is no firmware update for the (North American/Domestic) 2005-07 radios. If you read back over the past several pages of posts, there is additional information about this.

Any STS shipped to European countries has different software than those in North America. As far as I know, this update is only intended for radios with the YQ4 RPO. Export/European cars will have the YQ6 radio. When I looked at the build sheet for your VIN, you do have the YQ6 option.

Owners who have the clock problem outside of the Americas need to contact their GM dealer to determine if a fix is or will be made available.

So, when my clock magically came back to life last summer, I was watching to see how fast the GPS would get a lock. I found out it was barely, if at all, any quicker than before the clock reappeared. Now that I have the fix, the GPS gets a lock quickly, sometimes getting it before I can click "I agree" on the map screen.

That's probably because of the incorrect date. Satellites are at known places in the sky based on date and time. GPS receivers know which ones to look for (which channel to look for) at any given time, but if they don't know the correct date, there will be problems.

That's why it's too early to say if the 05-07s will work properly next summer besides being able to set the clock.

...in German...
@Hans Schinwald :

I called the dealership. After looking it up, they did say there was a bulletin. It discussed loosing the clock after battery power was removed. Repair involved new software. So they did confirm a bulletin is out there (although I did not get a bulletin number). They also stated that there would be a $160 service fee.
So with that in mind, I asking you guys if you can send me the "fix" via PM or email. Just let me know, for it would be greatly appreciated!

I did the "fix" and got the clock working again. Only trouble is it wants to move forward an hour after a couple days of working correctly. This is also what it did prior to when it quit working after battery replacement a year or so ago. The GPS works fine.
Wondering if anyone might know the cause and a fix. It's as if it keeps reverting to DST.

I decided to try the fix today and it works on my 2009 STS. Thanks to Oldgeek and Densonavi for the file and information. As a Macintosh user, I used the free Burn program and used the Data option, then Mac+PC to burn the file to CD-R. Thanks again to Densonavi for getting the information out there since it was all new to me after my battery went dead last week.

JKELDO - Please send to me as well. 2007 STS-V.

Thank you in advance!
I don't know if you had time to go back and read the whole thread, but there is no fix for the 2005-07 STS models as the original source code could not be located. The time is supposed to eventually correct next year in August as I recall but the date will still be wrong. Of course, a fix is possible if they find the code but for now, those models do not have a fix. Sorry to let you know.
