My Ultium PowerUp hardwired 11.5 kW charge was installed in March, 2024. I stopped using it a few months ago - but left it on. No problems. For a few months I used the portable charger that came with my Lyriq. A couple of weeks ago I put the portable charger away and started using the PowerUp charger again - but this time, I reduced the power going to the car to 15 amps.
Last week, the car was plugged in, I heard a series of 3 beeps from the garage. I found the red light on in the left corner and the car not charging. I unplugged the charger from the car and turned off the breaker. About three hours later, I turned on the breaker. The charger looked stable, so I plugged in the car. Charging resumed. Two days later, the three beeps started again, I unplugged again, turned off the breaker, waited a few hours, plugged back in and all has been fine since… with one new thing introduced. I had been using the charge later schedule (start at 9:30 pm, end by 10am) and always set to 80% at home, but yesterday when I got into the car, charging was at 91% and had not turned off. I found that Charge Now was active, so the scheduled charge later schedule was not being used. I re-engaged charge later, made sure the schedule was being used and the charger was set to the 15 amp reduced charge rate (it was). All has been fine for a couple of days.
It seems odd that whatever did this could cause the charge later schedule to stop being used, but allow the 15% display light amount set by the app to remain.
Any thoughts? Is this the start of the charger failing or is it possible some sort of power anomaly occurred 2x and the charger is actually OK.
